‘Ahsoka’ Disney Plus Series Begins Filming Today

Ahsoka, an original Star Wars series, finally begins production today. Star Wars sent out the exciting announcement with a picture (from the set) of a director’s chair with Dave Filoni’s trademark cowboy hanging off the side.

This new series will star Rosario Dawson as the famed Togruta, Ahsoka Tano. The only other casting announcements with characters tied to them are Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker and Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ray Stevenson, and Ivanna Sakhno have also been cast in the series, but their roles currently remain a mystery.

This tweet appears to confirm Dave Filoni will be the man in charge of crafting most of the series for the character he created with George Lucas around 15 years ago. Recently, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse co-director Peter Ramsey was reported to be directing at least one episode, so it seems Filoni and his team are keen on recruiting more talent with an animation background.

While further details for this show are unknown, perhaps this surprise announcement means we will know more in the near future, especially with Star Wars Celebration right around the corner.
