Rumor: Teaser for ‘Star Wars: Eclipse’ From Quantic Dream Could Arrive at The Game Awards

Our first look at the Star Wars: Eclipse game from Quantic Dream could arrive as soon as next month, with a teaser reportedly being prepared for The Game Awards.

Some of you, like us, were disappointed at the lack of news on the Star Wars slate for Disney Plus last week, but some good news is that we may be getting a very early look at a new Star Wars video game experience to make up for that. A source who has given us accurate information about the future of Lucasfilm Games in the past has recently given us a tip claiming that Quantic Dream’s Star Wars game is most likely going to be previewed at The Game Awards 2021 as one of their many exclusive reveals. The title has been in the pipeline for nearly two years at this point, so a reveal around this time would be fairly reasonable. The studio is said to be eager to get a first look out before the end of the year.

Very little is known about the project rumored to have the title of Star Wars: Eclipse. Current rumors indicate that the story will be set during the time of the High Republic, a period of history in which the Republic and the Jedi Order were at their peak, even in the face of a great disaster that shattered an extended period of peace and prosperity. The game is being developed by the Stéphane D’Astous-led Quantic Dream Montréal, with this serving as the first major project for the spin-off studio. Yohan Cazaux is said to be the game director on this title, and his involvement with the Assassin’s Creed games indicates that there may be more of an emphasis on open world elements – and more dynamic combat – than previous efforts from Quantic Dream. (Multiplayer may also be an option, which would be a first for the studio.) With that being said, this title will most likely feature an immersive, narrative-based experience that hasn’t been showcased in the realm of Star Wars video games since the Knights of the Old Republic.

The Game Awards will air on December 9, 2021. As of right now, Quantic Dream has not officially acknowledged their involvement with Lucasfilm Games.
