Edge Studio Is Currently Not Developing Any ‘Star Wars’ RPG Game

Edge Studio

Last month, it was announced that Edge Studio had obtained the license to develop tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPG) set in the Star Wars galaxy. The company said they would be “exploring some of the many eras of Star Wars, revisiting old classics while venturing into the exciting new frontiers of this setting.” Now, while their announcement felt like it was the start of something new, Dicebreaker reported on Thursday that they are currently not developing any new games.

Indeed, the site contacted Edge Studio, and a representative replied:

“For the moment, we are concentrating our efforts on the reprints of the Star Wars books already published by [Fantasy Flight Games, the previous license owner]. In a second phase, we will work on new supplements for the game. We haven’t announced anything else.”

This is not the impression that the studio left with their initial announcement, which they even titled “Edge Studio to Create Star Wars Roleplaying Games,” but new games will surely start development in the coming months, as they said, once their reprinting plans are put in motion. In the end, whatever Edge Studio’s specific plans for the property may be, tabletop gamers can surely expect many more great experiences in the beloved Star Wars galaxy in the coming years.

Dicebreaker reached out to the company for further clarification, we will keep you posted.

However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as movies from Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
