‘Star Wars: Andor’: New Leaked Set Photos Reveal Familiar Looking Imperial Uniforms

Star Wars: Andor

The Star Wars: Andor spin-off series for Disney Plus is currently filming in London, and for the past few weeks, there have been lots of leaked pictures from the set. While most of them showcased the massive sets built for the show. In this case, we have new photos primed to initiate conversations and speculation. For the first time, we are seeing people dressed up in the same Imperial uniform as Orson Krennic, played by Ben Mendelsohn in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Mendelsohn has never been announced as a part of the Andor cast, but it is easy to imagine a story that would involve him, considering the show will be more of a close-up of the Rebellion rather than a character-centric show. At the same time, let’s not get too excited, because we should remember the Rebellion learned about the existence of the Death Star during the events of Rogue One, and since Krennic is the Director of the Imperial Military Department of Advanced Weapons Research, it seems unlikely that he’d be an antagonist of the show. We should also keep in mind that Krennic has not been the only Imperial affiliate to wear the white uniform of the ISB – back in 1977, Admiral Yularen already delighted us with it. And it didn’t stop with him, as more Imperial officers in the background wore them on several occasions during the original trilogy.

The white uniforms the people in the background are wearing are the ones used by the Imperial Security Bureau, which the Department of Advanced Weapons Research belonged to, the Empire’s intelligence agency, which was in charge of matters of internal security and loyalty to the Empire. Having the Empire’s CIA part of the show that is supposed to be a spy-thriller makes total sense though.

To know exactly what is going on, we will have to wait until 2022 (a specific date is yet to be announced), when Star Wars: Andor premieres on Disney Plus. The show will have Diego Luna back as his character from Rogue One. Tony Gilroy, who did significant rewrites for Rogue One, is back as the series showrunner and writer.
