‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 Finale Viewership Up From Season 2, According to Preliminary Numbers

Viewership on the third season finale of The Mandalorian is up from the previous season finale, although it’s only the third most successful Star Wars finale so far.

Samba TV reports that 1.4 million United States viewers tuned into the last episode of The Mandalorian Season 3 over its first five days of play on their devices. Of those, 662 thousand views came from fans watching the episode on its opening day. Samba TV measures at least five minutes watched out of any given program as a “view”, and measures devices from across 3 million households with Smart TVs (a sample taken out of 25 million available devices in total) in the United States, which means that the total number of viewers likely greatly exceeds this total. To compare how The Mandalorian Season 3’s finale did to recent shows, this got better viewership than the Season 2 finale (which raked in 1.1 million views over five days), but the endings to both The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi saw better numbers overall (both finales seeing over 2 million views over five days each). Here’s their announcement post:

It should be noted that Samba TV, while an informative metric, isn’t necessarily the most comprehensive one. For instance, it leaves out computer and mobile devices, which account for a sizeable amount of viewership on any given program. It also only applies to viewership in the United States, meaning that we don’t have a real idea of how the show is doing internationally with this data. Nielsen will provide more comprehensive data on the domestic performance of the finale in a few weeks, so we’ll be sure to keep you posted when that news arrives.

All episodes of the first three seasons of The Mandalorian, alongside the first (and currently only) season of The Book of Boba Fett, are available to watch exclusively through Disney Plus. A fourth season of the series is in development.
