Darth Vader and The High Republic Spotlighted in Latest ‘Star Wars’ Previews from Marvel and Dark Horse

Marvel and Dark Horse have revealed previews for their respective new comics, Star Wars: Darth Vader — Black, White & Red, and Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures — Quest of the Jedi, both coming out later this week. They will be released on April 26 and feature well-known talent among Star Wars readers.

Darth Vader — Black, White & Red is a four-issue mini-series featuring a collection of short stories, including one by Jason Aaron. Long-time comic book readers will recognize Aaron as the first writer for Marvel’s mainline Star Wars series that began in 2015. Other creators joining him in issue #1 include writer and artist Peach Momoko, and writer Torunn Grønbekk.

Monkeys Fighting Robots posted the exclusive preview, which offers a glimpse at two pages from each story. It includes art by Leonard Kirk and Klaus Janson. Below is the official synopsis:

THE DARK LORD OF THE SITH LIKE YOU’VE NEVER SEEN HIM BEFORE! Following the successful black, white and red series produced by Marvel Comics, DARTH VADER now takes the spotlight for tales of terror by some of the industries most talented creators! PEACH MOMOKO will spin a story only she can bring to life! PLUS, the return of JASON AARON to the world of STAR WARS with Part One of his Vader tale spanning all four issues!

Meanwhile, The High Republic Adventures — Quest of the Jedi marks another major Star Wars comic book releasing this Wednesday, with notable author Claudia Gray as the issue’s writer. She has quickly become a prolific writer in the Star Wars publishing scene, with books like Lost Stars and The High Republic — The Fallen Star. This is her first Star Wars comic.

The preview can be found on DarkHorse.com, but we’re giving a hat tip to Star Wars Splash Page for being the first to report on it on Twitter. The High Republic Adventures — Quest of the Jedi presents itself as a one-shot issue with art by Fico Ossio. Here is the official description from the Dark Horse website:

On the ancient world of Angcord, the Force works in unforeseen ways. When legendary Jedi Knight Barnabus Vim and his intrepid Padawan Bly arrive on this mysterious world, seeking an ancient artifact of the Force, they quickly find more than they were bargaining for.

But just what is the mysterious Echo Stone, and what does its existence mean for the continued survival of all those who call Angcord home?

Both comics will be released digitally and physically at comic book stores on April 26.
