‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 Being Scored by Joseph Shirley

Joseph Shirley, who worked on the previous two seasons as part of main composer Ludwig Göransson’s team, is reportedly going to be credited as the main composer in the third season of The Mandalorian, which is now in the final stages of post-production, targeting a March 1 release on Disney Plus.

The news comes to us from Film Music Reporter. According to the story, Shirley, who was already credited as the main composer on The Book of Boba Fett, is likely to receive full credit for the new music, while Göransson will still be mentioned as the creator of the main themes, similar to what happened in the spin-off series.

Göransson was rumored to not have been heavily involved in season 2 except for a few specific moments (see Luke’s entrance in the finale, which granted him an Emmy). The Oscar-winning composer is currently busy working on Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which is coming out later this year, and just received high accolades for his Black Panther: Wakanda Forever score. In fact, he is nominated for an Oscar in the category of Best Original Song (“Lift Me Up”) alongside Rihanna, Tems, and Ryan Coogler.

The Mandalorian season 3 debuts on March 1, with the entire cast and crew returning. Check out the new poster released earlier this week below, and stay tuned for the latest news on Din Djarin’s next adventure.
