Lucasfilm revealed in late December the official synopsis for the third season, which will see the next chapter in Din Djarin’s adventures as he takes care of Grogu and tries to find meaning to his own existence along the way. This is the official synopsis:

The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars galaxy continue. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.

Pedro Pascal returns as the voice of Din Djarin, with Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder wearing the suit. The returning cast also includes Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan Kryze), Carl Weathers (Greef Karga), Emily Swallow (the Armorer), Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon), Omid Abtahi (Dr. Pershing), Amy Sedaris (Peli Motto), Christopher Lloyd, Misty Rosas (playing an unconfirmed character), and Simon Kassianides (Axe Woves, Bo-Katan’s companion).

Jon Favreau returns as main the main writer on all eight episodes, with Dave Filoni taking on co-writing duties on two episodes, plus Noah Kloor (The Book of Boba Fett) on one. Disney Plus has also confirmed the list of directors for the new season: Rick Famuyiwa, Rachel Morrison, Lee Isaac Chung, Carl Weathers, Peter Ramsey, and Bryce Dallas Howard.

Famuyiwa, Weathers, and Howard are all returning from previous seasons. Rachel Morrison is mostly known as a cinematographer, having worked on Black Panther and Mudbound, but has also directed an episode of Apple’s The Morning Show and a couple of episodes of American Crime Story. Lee Isaac Chung is the Academy Award-nominated filmmaker behind Minari, while Peter Ramsey was one of the directors of 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. He also directed for the upcoming Ahsoka series, per reports.
