Ashley Eckstein Visited the ‘Ahsoka’ Set and Was Able to Bond With Rosario Dawson Over the Character

Ashley Eckstein, the original voice actress for Ahsoka Tano, has revealed that she got an opportunity to visit the set of the live-action Disney Plus Ahsoka series starring Rosario Dawson.

Talking to Looper (hat tip r/StarWarsLeaks), Ashley Eckstein managed to reveal that she got to visit the set of the live-action Disney Plus series. While there’s little that she could talk about without breaking the standard non-disclosure agreements that come with a set visit on a major franchise, she did note that she got to meet Rosario Dawson on the set of the series for the first time:

“I was so honored I got to visit the set of Ahsoka… Unfortunately, I don’t have a cameo in Season 1 of Ahsoka. It was just a set visit, but I don’t want to say “just a set visit” because it was a dream come true. It was such a wonderful day. I got to see two different scenes being filmed, and I finally got to meet Rosario Dawson. I’ve been wanting to meet her for three years. I know she’s been wanting to meet me. It was a beautiful moment. She was so kind and so nice.”

She went on to explain that they talked a lot about the character of Ahsoka:

“With her, I was so excited. I didn’t shut my mouth, I kept talking. I was excited to share with her what Ahsoka means to people, and she’s seen that as well. She was sharing some of her stories of things that she’s seen on social media and how she enjoys re-posting and liking people’s Ahsoka posts… It’s incredible to see what people share about their love of Ahsoka or their cosplay. I had a chance to chat with her about how Ahsoka is saving lives and changing lives. Ahsoka’s different than any other character I’ve ever played. She goes beyond the screen. That was a really special moment to chat with Rosario about what Ahsoka means to people.”

She reiterated that she did not have a cameo in this season of the show, but remains hopeful that she may get a chance in hypothetical future seasons:

“No cameo; however, I talk about throwing your dreams out into the universe, so maybe a Season 2 cameo. I can continue to dream! My whole background is in live-action. The majority of my work is in live-action. It’s something that would feel very comfortable to be on set again.”

While Ashley Eckstein was passed over for an opportunity to play her animated character in live-action, she remains the voice of the character in various adaptations. She got her start in the initial six seasons of Star Wars: The Clone Wars before making a surprise return to the role through Star Wars Rebels, which she would also reprise in Star Wars: Forces of Destiny. Her voice was heard among the many vocal cameos in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker as one of the past Jedi who assisted Rey in her final trial. Now, she has recorded lines for two episodes of Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, and remains on-board for any voice acting role requiring her character’s return.

Star Wars: Ahsoka is set to release on Disney Plus sometime next year. In the meantime, all six episodes of Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi is available to watch right now.
