Update: Disney Plus Team Confirms ‘The Bad Batch’ Still Scheduled For September 28 Debut

Disney has released a list with all the content arriving on Disney Plus in September, including four episodes of Andor. Missing, however, is the upcoming season 2 of The Bad Batch, which the streamer accidentally revealed earlier this summer would start airing September 28. Neither Disney nor Lucasfilm ever announced this date on social media or through a press release.

There is no cause for panic, however, as Disney Plus probably wanted more space between Andor and The Bad Batch after they delayed the former a few weeks (it will have its three-episode premiere on September 21). A release date sometime in October or November is highly likely, and depending on how many episodes season 2 has, it could nicely bridge the gap between Andor and The Mandalorian, which returns with its third season in February 2023. A trailer for the new adventures of Hunter, Echo, Wrecker, Omega, and the rest of the gang debuted at Star Wars Celebration in late May, though no specific launch date was given.

Here is the current list of programs set for release on September 28, via the recently released Disney Plus schedule:

A second trailer for The Bad Batch season 2, along with the official confirmation of the release date, could come in a couple of weeks on Disney Plus Day, September 8. The Star Wars Twitter account recently confirmed that “epic events and surprises” are to be expected on that date — so far, the only Star Wars content we know we are getting that day is the behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The Bad Batch is not the only Star Wars animated content on its way. Also coming out this fall is the six-episode anthology series Tales of the Jedi. A trailer for the new series was shown at Star Wars Celebration, and it is possible the public might finally get its first look at the series preview on Disney Plus Day, September 8.

UPDATE:

It may have been a false red flag after all. The official Disney Plus Australia page is still listing The Bad Batch for September 28, plus a Reddit user contacted the streamer, and they got back to them saying season 2 will indeed debut on that date.

It’s possible that the U.S. branch decided not to include the date because it hasn’t been officially announced yet, and were maybe hoping to make a big splash next week either during Disney Plus Day or D23, when it will probably be confirmed on social media.
