New ‘Andor’ Poster Revealed Featuring Main Cast and Caption “The Rebellion Begins”

On the day Andor was originally scheduled to come out, Lucasfilm revealed a brand-new poster for the series. Even though it is essentially a variation of the one that was released a month ago with the second trailer for the series, it serves as a reminder that Diego Luna’s rebel spy is coming to Disney Plus in three weeks. On September 21, Andor will debut its first three episodes, with new episodes airing weekly after that.

Check out the new poster here:

Using the modern approach of the floating-head poster, it gives us a sense of what’s to come in the show and familiarizes us with some of the central cast of characters. The main one is, of course, Cassian, played by Diego Luna, who starts the series five years before the moment we meet him at the beginning of Rogue One, in a very different place in his life. Going down, next we have Mon Mothma, played by Genevieve O’Reilly. Rogue One already introduced his version of the character to those who hadn’t seen the Revenge of the Sith deleted scene, and from what we’ve gathered in the trailers, she will be plotting the formation of the Rebel Alliance behind the Empire’s back while still holding her Imperial Senate seat.

On her right, we have Kyle Soller as Syril Karn, an officer of the Imperial Security Bureau (the Empire’s version of the CIA) who is apparently obsessed with Cassian. We assume the two will see face to face for the first time in Ferrix, Cassian’s adopted homeworld which the Empire is assaulting, as we saw in the trailer. He will also have an interesting relationship with his mother, played by Kathryn Hunter, whom he’s constantly trying to impress. Think of Norman Bates in Psycho. By Mon Mothma’s left, we have Adria Arjona as Bix Caleen, Cassian’s (sort of) love interest at the beginning of the series. The two are living in Ferrix before the Empire arrives, and have had an on-and-off relationship since they were 10. Even though we haven’t seen any footage from her outside of Ferrix, a planet that could potentially only appear in the first three episodes, Arjona confirmed in a recent interview that she will be back for season 2.

The next row of floating heads includes a familiar face, in Forest Whitaker’s Saw Gerrera, a radical rebel that we first met in Rogue One, and a new one, in Denise Gough’s Supervisor Dedra Meero. She is a hard-core Imperial officer who looks down upon his male colleagues, who she considers to be mediocre at best. However, in a male-dominated world, she has to work twice as hard to stand out. Next down we have Elizabeth Dulau playing a series regular named Kleya, who is spotted a couple of times in the trailer. We have no details about her. Right below her, we have Varada Sethu as Cinta. Not a lot of details have transpired about her character, and she’s only seen in one scene in the trailer. We assume that scene is from Ferrix, and therefore from the first three episodes, but we have no official confirmation yet.

The last human on the poster is a yet-unidentified actress who is possibly playing a member of the Rebellion, or at least, a non-Imperial character. She could be Faye Marsay, but we have no further details about her so far. And finally, the very last character on the poster is Cassian’s droid, B2-EMO, who has been in the family for a long time. Speaking of Cassian’s family, a character that is strangely missing from the poster is his mother, Maarva Andor, played by Fiona Shaw. We know she appears very early on in the show, on Ferrix, but we don’t know if she’ll make it out alive. Let the speculation begin!

Andor will debut the first three of 12 episodes on Disney Plus September 21. A second season is currently in the works and scheduled to begin filming in November.
