‘Andor’ Actor Adria Arjona Confirms Her Character Will Return for Season 2

Besides Cassian and Mon Mothma, and a few cameos (see Saw Gerrera), Andor will include mostly new characters. One of them is Cassian’s childhood friend and love interest, Bix Caleen, played by Adria Arjona. Bix and Cassian are both living in his adopted homeworld, Ferrix, right before the Empire arrives. Bix has appeared in a few scenes of the trailers, but we’ve always seen her in the same setting (Ferrix), which led to speculation that she might not make it out alive of the first three episodes. Apparently, that might not be the case.

In a new interview with Collider, Arjona confirmed that her character will indeed return for the second season of the show, and said she has already discussed some details with showrunner Tony Gilroy:

“Tony is a very much gentlemanly-like creator, where he’s very much involved with his actors and is very open to conversations and is constantly telling me what her journey was gonna be like. ‘Oh, I changed this a little bit.’ He always kept me on the loop even before the scripts were done. And the second he had a script out, we would all get it first. And even now, with the second part, he’s already told me what’s gonna happen. And that’s not usual. He just really wants you to get in that mindset and start preparing your gears to sort of embark on this new journey.”

Arjona joins the list of confirmed returning cast members for the second season of the show, which so far includes Diego Luna as Cassian, Stellan Skarsgård as Luthen Rael, and supposedly Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma. Production on the second and final season will begin in November and will film another batch of twelve episodes. They will be divided into blocks of three episodes, each one covering a year, leading up directly to Rogue One. Gilroy himself confirmed recently that the last three episodes will take place in the five days prior to the events of the movie, with the final scene of the show depicting Cassian walking across the tarmac to get on the ship to go to the Rings of Kafrene.

Andor will have its three-episode premiere on September 21. Stay tuned for more news as we enter the final stretch of the marketing campaign.
