Rumor: Cameron Monaghan to Star in Live-Action Cal Kestis Disney Plus Series

A new rumor suggests Cameron Monaghan, who portrayed the lead character Cal Kestis in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and the upcoming sequel Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, may be making the jump to live-action.

Today, Kristian Harloff offered a spicy rumor that he heard from a source he trusts, regarding Cameron Monaghan being approached to do a live-action spin-off to the Star Wars Jedi video game series. Here’s what he had to say:

“Rumor, rumor, rumor… Have to say that – not confirmed! Got this from someone I’ve trusted in the past, tells me this is a thing… The rumor itself, at the moment, is that there is a Cal Kestis show in the works for Disney Plus. The rumor is that [the actor Cameron Monaghan has] actually signed on to play the character from Jedi: Fallen Order in a live-action series for Disney Plus. There’s no production dates set, but my source tells me that this is happening.”

You can view Harloff’s full report below:

Cal Kestis was introduced in Fallen Order, as a Jedi Padawan who took to hiding as a scrapper on the planet Bracca, a place where the Empire disassembled parts from decommissioned Republic and Confederacy ships. When Kestis is forced to use his powers to save his friend’s life, both the Inquisitors and a group of Jedi sympathizers find Cal Kestis as he escapes the planet. Cal spends the story coming to terms with what’s happened and searching for a way to rebuild the Jedi Order, or at least keep survivors safe from the Empire.

If this rumor is true, the move makes a lot of sense, considering Cal Kestis was designed to look like its actor Cameron Monaghan, who acted using performance capture for the game. The upcoming sequel, Survivor, is said to be set around the time of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Above all else, a show would allow Lucasfilm to explore more of the “dark times” between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope in live-action and flesh out the history of the franchise.

While this is nothing more than a rumor, we’ll keep you posted if we hear anything else about it moving forward. For now, fans can experience Cal Kestis’s story in Jedi: Fallen Order while waiting for the upcoming sequel Jedi: Survivor, set to come out next year.
