UPDATE! ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’: Fateful Rematch Teased on Disney Plus Hotstar Calendar

As we get closer to the Obi-Wan Kenobi finale, Disney Plus Hotstar looks like it might have revealed where the long-awaited rematch between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader will take place. Possible spoilers ahead.

The Twitter account for Disney Plus Hotstar, an international version of Disney Plus, has showcased its calendar for this week’s upcoming releases. Alongside the arrival of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Ms. Marvel, the service is hyping up the finale of Obi-Wan Kenobi with a new poster showcasing the start of a duel between the show’s two biggest characters. From the looks of things, the master and apprentice will have their big fight on Mustafar once again, but this time, it might just happen with a twist: Darth Vader’s castle looks like it may play some kind of role in the sequence. Check out the calendar below:

It’s worth noting, however, that promotional posters don’t necessarily reflect the final products. Mustafar has already been featured in the concept art images that were officially released back in November 2021, and also shown in the series, both in flashbacks using archive footage from Revenge of the Sith, and in new scenes involving the reintroduction of Darth Vader. Nonetheless, this promotional image does suggest that it will somehow play a role in the finale, whether Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader actually fight there or not.

UPDATE!

Well, this is certainly unusual. It’s come to light that the poster that was featured on the calendar was not an official one, but a fanmade render teasing what the hypothetical “rematch of the century” could look like.

It’s certainly odd that an official Disney account would opt to use a fan poster to promote their show. Nonetheless, given that we’ve already caught glimpses of Mustafar in the series itself, so it’s not unlikely that we could return there for the final episode. We’ll just have to wait and see how the issue of Obi-Wan’s transport lacking a hyperdrive gets resolved to know where he and Darth Vader will end up fighting.

The finale of Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi will air on Wednesday, June 22 on Disney Plus, with five of its six episodes available to stream right now. There has not been official word about a follow-up to the limited series, though Ewan McGregor has stated that he is interested in further exploring the character, and Lucasfilm is said to be discussing options.
