‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Rises in Nielsen Streaming Charts After Second Episode

The Book of Boba Fett is continuing to prove to be a great asset to the library of Disney Plus originals, as the first spin-off to The Mandalorian has now rose from the eighth place on the Nielsen charts to fifth.

TVLine reports that the second episode of the new series helped the show rise to the fifth spot on the weekly charts compared to the charts for the first episode, which debuted in eighth. Audiences pooled together to watch 563 million minutes of the show’s first two episodes during the second week of the series. This is especially notable considering that previous Disney Plus series Hawkeye has officially fallen off of Nielsen’s chart following a successful run, albeit what appears to have been the smallest for a live-action Marvel Studios series.

Worth pointing out is that the placement on the chart is primarily due to the fact that the amount of content that’s been released for the series so far is comparatively limited – with only 89 minutes of content at the time the data in this chart was being tracked – when pit against streaming series that have dropped entire seasons at once, combined with existing backlogs that are being revisited around the time that new seasons drop. It is also worth noting that big-budget Disney Plus originals tend to be shorter than programming on other streaming services. Either way, this is a solid result for the show and it should continue to climb as more data is revealed.

Competition coming ahead of The Book of Boba Fett this week include the likes of four Netflix series: Cobra Kai in first with 2.15 billion minutes watched with 40 episodes on the air, The Witcher in second with 1.1 billion minutes watched with 16 episodes on the air, Stay Close in third with 988 million minutes watched with 8 episodes on the air, and Queer Eye in fourth with 723 minutes watched with 52 episodes on the air. The Book of Boba Fett has also come ahead of the likes of Emily in Paris (Netflix, 20 episodes), Ozark (Netflix, 37 episodes), The Wheel of Time (Amazon Prime, 8 episodes), Lost in Space (Netflix, 28 episodes), and The Great British Baking Show (Netflix, 114 episodes and 32 specials). Of the ten shows listed here and in the period described, The Book of Boba Fett is the second-most watched for a series currently airing its first season, only behind Stay Close.

The Book of Boba Fett (season) finale debuts next Wednesday, and the highly anticipated limited Obi-Wan Kenobi series is expected to be the next live-action series to arrive on Disney Plus
