Lucasfilm Extends Deal With Hasbro for ‘Star Wars’; Announces Plans for ‘Indiana Jones’ Toys

Hasbro has announced that Lucasfilm has extended its licensing deal with them to continue making Star Wars toys, while also announcing its intention to start making toys for Indiana Jones.

It’s an announcement that makes sense in both cases; Hasbro’s line up of Star Wars toys has always proved popular over the years, and with a new Indiana Jones movie not too far around the corner, it seems sensible to start making toys as the franchise prepares to jump back into the limelight.

Indeed, the Indiana Jones line of toys will arrive in 2023, before the new movie debuts in theaters. Hasbro actually has a long history of making toys for the franchise — they first made Indiana Jones toys for Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1982 and 1983 — but this will be the first time Hasbro has made Indiana Jones toys since 2008, the year Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull was released.

Eric Nyman, Chief Consumer Officer at Hasbro, displayed his excitement at strengthening their relationship with Lucasfilm via the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises:

We’re proud to deepen our close working relationship and collaborate with the Disney team to bring innovative and engaging play experiences to kids, fans, and families inspired by some of the world’s most iconic entertainment brands.

In addition to a slate of new collectibles, figures, role play gear, and games for Star Wars and Marvel, it’s an honor to bring Indiana Jones back to Hasbro and help introduce the beloved franchise to a new generation of fans.

Stephanie Young, President of Disney Consumer Products, Games and Publishing, echoed Nyman’s thoughts:

Disney has long valued its relationship with Hasbro in developing fresh, imaginative products and toys that delight our fans of all ages. We’re thrilled to continue collaborating with this iconic company—one that will help lift our consumer experiences across the Marvel, Star Wars and now Indiana Jones franchises to new heights for years to come.

This is great news for fans of both Star Wars and Indiana Jones who are pleased with Hasbro’s products, as the relationship has now been secured for the foreseeable future.
