Dark Horse Comics produced some of the best Star Wars comics of all time, providing fans with great stories during the long periods between movies and TV shows. After a long hiatus, Dark Horse is coming back to a galaxy far, far away.
An exclusive report by Screenrant reveals that Dark Horse Comics will be producing a brand-new line of all-ages comic books and graphic novels. These new comics will span the entire Star Wars timeline from The High Republic to the sequel trilogy era.
Dark Horse had been the exclusive publisher of Star Wars comics for several years, beginning in 1991. Dark Empire, Tales of The Jedi, and Star Wars Infinities rank among the best stories produced between then and when the license went back to Marvel Comics in 2015 following the sale of Lucasfilm to Disney.
Now, in conjunction with Lucasfilm and Disney Worldwide Publishing, Dark Horse will once again make Star Wars comics beginning next spring. Marvel Comics and IDW will continue producing their respective content.
“Dark Horse Comics has a rich history publishing Star Wars comics and graphic novels,” Dark Horse CEO Mike Richardson said in a statement. “I am thrilled that Dark Horse will once again bring new stories to life from this incredible galaxy and I’m not exaggerating when I say we can’t wait to bring these new adventures to fans of every age.”
Dark Horse Comics has a great legacy in Star Wars comics and their return to the fold is a strong sign of the health of the brand in comic books. With the focus being on all ages, the storytelling potential seems unlimited. More details will be announced as the first Dark Horse comics and graphic novels arrive in spring 2022.
