‘Star Wars: Andor’ Targeting July to September 2022 Release

The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story prequel Andor has set its sights on a premiere, and it’s further away than some of us expected it to be: the series will be arriving in the late Summer 2022/early to mid-Autumn 2022.

While on a conference call for today’s quarterly Disney Investor’s meeting, Disney Chief Financial Officer has confirmed that Andor will be arriving about a year from now, in the fourth fiscal quarter of 2022. That should roughly translate to a premiere at some point in the second half of July, any point in August, any point in September, or the first half of October. It’s also worth noting that the Marvel series Ms. Marvel will be airing in that same quarter, so if that’s ends up being the case, then it seems likely that all six episodes of that will have to air before the twelve episodes of Andor get their start.

While Andor was the second live-action Star Wars show to start filming, it seems highly likely at this point that it will be the fourth to air. The Mandalorian‘s first two seasons will be followed by The Book of Boba Fett, and most likely Obi-Wan Kenobi. In terms of timing, it seems likely that the third season of The Mandalorian could begin shortly after the first season of the Rogue One prequel wraps up, which would point to Andor possibly airing in the middle of that range. In terms of releases, it seems possible that there will be a live-action Star Wars show for each part of the year, with The Book of Boba Fett will covering the first three months of 2022, followed by Obi-Wan Kenobi in the second three months, Andor in the third three months, and The Mandalorian in the fourth three months, with the second season of The Bad Batch most likely running concurrently with some of the shows or in the gaps.

Lucasfilm’s slate of Disney Plus Star Wars content includes new seasons of The Mandalorian and The Bad Batch, the premiere of The Book of Boba Fett later this year, and a gauntlet of shows like Obi-Wan KenobiAndor, Ahsoka, The Acolyte, Lando, and Rangers of the New Republic, along with the animated feature film A Droid Story. That’s not all, either, as there are reportedly an abundance of new projects that will be announced on Disney Plus Day.
