Physical Re-Release of KOTOR for PC and Nintendo Switch Coming in 2022

Fans of BioWare’s classic 2003 Star Wars RPG Knights of the Old Republic received some welcome news earlier this year when Aspyr Media revealed that they’re developing a remake of the beloved title for the PlayStation 5 and PC. Now it sounds like KOTOR fans have even more to look forward to in the near future, as Limited Run Games has just announced that they’ll be releasing physical copies of the game in mid-2022 for the Nintendo Switch and PC.

Preorders for the physical run will open at 10AM US Eastern Time this Friday, November 19. They’ll last for six weeks until 11:59PM ET on Sunday, January 2, 2022. This run will occur in three separate editions: the Standard Edition, the Premium Edition, and the Master Edition. While the Standard Edition will only be available on the Switch, the latter two options will release for both Switch and PC.

The Standard Edition comes with just the original game, but the other editions offer a variety of accessories including, but not limited to, a reversible poster, concept art cards, and a commemorative coin.

This isn’t the first time that Limited Run Games has provided gamers with a physical re-release of a classic Star Wars title. They’ve previously issued re-runs of other old hits like Shadows of the Empire, X-Wing, TIE Fighter, Episode I: Racer, Racer Revenge, the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series, and more.

These physical re-releases are arriving shortly after KOTOR dropped digitally on the Nintendo Switch last week, and following THQ’s collaboration with Lucasfilm Games and Aspyr to bring other retro Star Wars combos to fans’ shelves.

If LRG’s previous Star Wars rereleases are any indication, copies of all three of their KOTOR editions are likely to sell out quickly. You should get your preorder in as soon as you can if you’re interested, since many eager gamers will certainly be standing by to do the same.
