Lucasfilm: The Halcyon (Galactic Starcruiser) Will Be in ‘The High Republic’ Stories Next Year

Lucasfilm has announced that the Halcyon starcruiser, the ship (hotel) of the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser experience, will be featured in multiple stories set in The High Republic next year.

Last month, the company announced the ship would get a limited five-issue comic run, and now, StarWars.com is saying it will be part of Justina Ireland’s Star Wars: The High Republic: Mission to Disaster (see concept art of the ship coming to the rescue of the Starlight Beacon above), George Mann’s Star Wars: The High Republic: The Battle for Starlight, and Daniel José Older’s Star Wars: The High Republic: Midnight Horizon.

Lucasfilm Publishing creative director Michael Siglain said in a statement to StarWars.com:

“One of the most exciting elements of incorporating the Halcyon into our High Republic storytelling is that it’s not just about seeing the Halcyon in action and weaving the ship into the larger story, but diving into the ship’s history and its construction, as well. We’ll visit the shipyards of Corellia, where it was built, and get to meet the genius behind this amazing ship.”

He then added:

“Storywise, there is an incident that requires the Jedi and the Republic to act quickly, and they need a big, powerful ship to come to the rescue, and the Halcyon answers that call. And when it does, it sets an example for other ships to answer that call,” Siglain says. “Of course, something as high-profile as the Halcyon also attracts the attention of the Nihil.”

Mission to Disaster will be out on January 4, 2022. The five-issue comic run will come out at some point next year, and its release will probably be tied in some way to the opening of the hotel, in March 2022. The first four months have already been fully booked.
