‘The Mandalorian’ Scores 24 Emmy Nominations, Including Best Drama Series

This is the way! For the second year in a row, The Mandalorian has scored big at the Emmys. The second season landed a total of 24 nominations, including Best Drama series.

After delivering a season that put smiles on everybody’s faces while the world was dealing with a pandemic, the Emmys are saying “We salute you” to Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and the entire team. The nominations for the second season of The Mandalorian top the fifteen noms it received last year.

The Mandalorian actually leads all nominations, tied with The Crown from Netflix, a stupendous achievement for the series. Other notable nominations include Timothy Olyphant and Carl Weathers for Guest Actor In A Drama Series, Giancarlo Esposito in Best Supporting Actor In A Drama Series, and Outstanding Sound Editing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour). Here is the complete list.

This is the cherry on top of the delicious cake that has been season 2’s awards run. Earlier this year, Baz Idoine won a Best Cinematographer Award for Episode of Half-Hour Series for Television. It also won a SAG Award for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Comedy or Drama Series, a DGA nomination for Jon Favreau, and AFI named it one of the best 10 TV shows of the year.

Best of luck to Jon Favreau and the entire team for the Emmys. The ceremony will take place on Sunday, September 19 at 8:00 p.m. ET and 5:00 p.m. PT. This year’s ceremony will air on CBS and Paramount+.
