Liam Neeson Claims He Was Not Approached About Returning For ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Series

Qui-Gon Jinn

The Disney Plus Obi-Wan Kenobi show has been shooting for over a month already, and even though Disney has revealed the full cast for the series, there are many who are speculating that there will be some surprise appearances in it. We are specifically talking about Liam Neeson’s Qui-Gon Jinn, a character that is all but confirmed to appear in the series. And even though everybody is expecting him, the actor continues to deny his involvement with the series.

While promoting his new Netflix movie The Ice Road, Neeson appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and expectedly, he was asked about Star Wars. Kimmel asked him directly if he’s going to appear in the series, to which Liam Neeson responded:

“I heard Ewan McGregor was going to do a series. No, I don’t think so. No, I haven’t been approached.”

And he followed up that statement with a hand gesture insinuating that Disney couldn’t afford him. Even though we should take his word for now, this might be the Oscar nominee’s worst performance to date. The vast majority of the fanbase is fully expecting the character to appear, and Neeson couldn’t keep a straight face while saying that. Even Lucasfilm recently teased that Obi-Wan learned how to communicate with Qui-Gon through the force ten years after Revenge of the Sith, which matches the Obi-Wan Kenobi timeline.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is shooting right now in Los Angeles aiming for a premiere next year on Disney Plus. Ewan McGregor revealed in a conversation with Pedro Pascal released this week that he’s shot scenes with stormtroopers and Jawas.
