Marvel Announces Prelude Comic Series for The Rise of Skywalker

Great news for Star Wars fans – especially comic book fans! From Comics Beat, Marvel just announced a four-issue limited series to serve as a prelude to The Rise of Skywalker. This news isn’t unexpected but as much as it is welcome confirmation. Also, this gorgeous piece of art by Marco Checchetto highlighting the four covers was just released.

From Comics Beat:

…Star Wars Episode IX gets a prelude series with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker – Allegiance. The four-issue miniseries is written by Ethan Sacks, with art by Luke Ross. No further details were revealed about the series, which makes sense given the shroud of secrecy that Disney and Lucasfilm tend to keep around their Star Wars installments. Look for more information on this series later this year.

Similar to past Journey to… series for both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, this comic will no doubt provide a broad updated on the state of the galaxy and our heroes leading up to the final installment of the Skywalker saga. Writer Ethan Sacks currently helms Galaxy’s Edge and artist Luke Ross has worked on several titles, most notably The Force Awakens and Thrawn adaptations. To say the least, fans should be thrilled. This limited series is in good hands.

Now, let’s all start speculating and discussing! This is where the fun begins!

UPDATE: The series is titled Journey to The Rise of Skywalker: Allegiance and it will be released this October!
