First Look at the TIE Echelon From Galaxy’s Edge That May Appear in Star Wars: Episode IX

An image of a new look TIE fighter at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has surfaced online, that many are speculating might be the new TIE Echelon that the creative executive in charge of Galaxy’s Edge, Scott Trowbridge, described recently. The fighter looks like a mutant between a TIE fighter and Kylo Ren’s shuttle, with a hint of Vader’s x1.

WARNING: potential spoilers ahead as the image has not been part of any official release

In Anthony Breznican’s coverage at EW, Trowbridge talks about the new TIE Echelon:

“This elite squad from The First Order has arrived on a new ship — the TIE Echelon, which has a cockpit similar to Kylo Ren’s batwinged shuttle but the curved foils of Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced x1.”

ABC News’ Clayton Sandell, who also went to Galaxy’s Edge, was a guest on our podcast The Resistance Broadcast, giving his own description after seeing this new mutant TIE fighter:

“That’s where the TIE fighter is parked and it is an awesome TIE fighter. A brand new TIE fighter that nobody has ever seen before. And they hinted you’re going to see this TIE fighter in a new movie. I am guessing Episode IX. It’s a really cool design. It combines, if you could imagine Kylo’s shuttle kind of shrunken down into a TIE fighter look.”

It’s always cool to see new ships in Star Wars, which reminds me of the first time we got a glimpse of Kylo Ren’s TIE Silencer from The Last Jedi. It doesn’t mean this ship will necessarily play a major role in Episode IX, but it will make for a new interesting ship to marvel at on screen, and without a doubt, a fun new toy (or collectible if you’re in denial that you like to collect toys) for us fans to pick up later this year.

What do you think of the new TIE Echelon, are you digging the design? I personally think it looks pretty cool, shades of similar designs but unique in its own right, which to me is always a good thing.
