UPDATE 3! LEGO Star Wars: Solo Character Names And Range Trooper Minifigure Revealed
Some new descriptions for six new LEGO Star Wars: Solo products have surfaced, along with a couple of low-quality screencaps of what the new products look like.
The five product names, revealed via r/LEGOStarWars, are as follows:
- 75207 Imperial Patrol Battle Pack
- 75209 Han Solo Landspeeder
- 75210 Landspeeder
- 75211 Imperial TIE Fighter
- 75212 Kessel Run Millennium Falcon
Nothing unexpected there, but yes, we are getting another Millennium Falcon set, with confirmation (not that we needed it) of the Kessel Run! There’s also a leaked image of a ‘Range Trooper’ minifigure which will be included in the latest film – an interesting take on what looks like a nice bridge between the Clone Trooper and Stormtrooper armor:
UPDATE 1: There’s also an image of what appears to be a masked alien bounty hunter:
Another new character revealed from Solo LEGO minifigure from StarWarsLeaks
UPDATE 2: And here’s an image of the buildable Han Solo figure:

Furthermore, images of these new sets are making their way online, revealing our first glimpses of some of the new characters and ships:
UPDATE 3!
And now, The Brick Show has helped clear things up with the character names and updated version of the set names, the most important of which are for Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson’s characters — Qi’Ra and Tobias Beckett, respectively.
- 75209 – Han Solo’s Speeder [Minifigures: Han Solo, Qi’Ra, Corellian Hound]
- 75210 – Moloch’s Speeder [Minifigures: Moloch, Rebolt, Corellian Hounds(2)]
- 75211 – Imperial TIE Fighter [Minifigures: Mimban Stormtrooper, Imperial Pilot, Han Solo (Imperial Disquise), Tobias Beckett (Imperial Disquise)]
- 75212 – Kessel Run Millennium Falcon [Minifigures: Qi’Ra, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, Quay Tolsite, Kessel Operations Droid, DD-BD]
- 75207 – Imperial Patrol Battle Pack [Minifigures: Imperial Officer, Death Star Trooper (Female), Stormtroopers (2)]
Another little detail that has me excited is that, with the presence of Corellian Hounds, it’s likely that we’ll finally get to see Corellia on the big screen. Also neat is that there are apparently planet-specific Stormtroopers — specifically for Mimban, a Legends planet first introduced in the novel Splinter of the Mind’s Eye that’s been confirmed to exist in the canon as of The Clone Wars. While I’ll have to reserve my judgment until I actually see what the movie looks like, little things like these get me more interested as a fan.
At this point, it’s looking like the Imperial Patrol Battle Pack listed in the above albums has nothing to do with Solo, but it’s among the other Star Wars LEGO that they’re releasing in the near future. Also worth noting is that Thandie Newton’s character is presumably in another set.
This continues our countdown to Solo: A Star Wars Story and it will be interesting to see more and more products rolling out over the next few months. What do you think of the new sets and the Range Trooper? What about the character names? Let us know in the comments below!

Interesting. Where’s Han?
In his landspeeder. You can see him in the Landspeeder set!

Range trooper? I guess they need a different type of white molded plastic armor for every known terrain in the universe.
Or they need to sell more Stormtrooper variants, because why not.

I can just picture a team of Imperial armor designers sitting around a design room and a giant white board checklist asking,
“Do we have a set of armor for light grass?
What about volcanic ash?
Sand?
Is that desert sand or beach sand?
Both. We need one for both!”

Lucasfilm just read your comment and are kicking themselves in the ass for not having a Mustafar Stormtrooper variant standing guard outside Vader’s castle in Rogue One.
They wouldn’t dare do desert sand. We know how Vader feels about that.
Surround yourself with sand and you’re Vader-proof.
I’d happily let you test that theory. I hope you got Force-choke insurance.
There’s no mystical energy field that controls my destiny.
You are the Anti-Force

It’s Vader Kryptonite!

There’s a line in the Phasma novel where a character asks Brendol Hux what sand feels like. “It shifts under your feet. Corase and rough. Irritating. Gets everywhere,” was his response. My stomach hurt with laughter after reading that one.
If Episode IX comes to Scotland, I need to see tartan designed stormtroopers.
With kilts, sporrans and bagpipes for full effect.
Anything less would just be a waste.
I like your train of thought. Stormtroopers loaded on single malt. Rey chasing a space haggis through the Glens. Finn discovering the delight of Irn-bru, sending him into a self-induced sugar coma. Possibilities are endless.

a sucker is born every minute
You should see the nice shade of brown the sanitation stormtrooper wears, complete with a sweetcorn shaped clip to fit his rangefinder to.
The movie I never wanted, that I’ve never been sold on… I’m still not even remotely close to being sold on. I never understood the need or want to make this film, and now that we know the image in the header is an actual promotional image, I’m even questioning the art direction. Why does the Falcon look like that? What in gods name is Lando wearing with a freaking popped collar. The trailer for this film better be incredible. I WANT to be excited for this film, but everything is telling me not to be. After TFA, RO, and TLJ, I feel pretty confident in LucasFilm’s direction… but I’m just not that interested or excited for this film.
I feel better about SOLO than I did for The Last Jedi.
Good! The world can start revolving again.
Just wait another 5 months; it’ll be “Ruin Howard DECLARED WAR on Star Wars fans blah blah blah”…
Where the hell is Greedo? He has as much history with Han as any character. Judging from Greedo’s words in the cantina, they go way back.
Yes I hope greedo and Jabba is in it! I didn’t even think of that
Please no.
Please no.
So Han pimped out the falcon after winning the bet with Lando. Only he needed to add the gold trim package, curb feelers, boomerang antenna and the neon license plate frame
What’s that little dog thing
Baby Chewy.
A Corellian hound. Pretty cool, I think.
Yes. I think so too.

Always nice to see a new alien, wouldn’t mind seeing some familiar ones either.
I’m still waiting for some Rodians or Twi’leks to show up. I think there might have been a plague ☹️
Hang on? Didn’t Disney recently debunk that artwork that was released online as being fake? That is clearly the same art on the box. So Disney are now liars?
Like all entities, they say what they feel they need to.
They didn’t lie. They just said that they didn’t make the image. Which is true – the image was likely put together by a third party who used their assets. It’s a lawyer-like statement.

Why did I read that in Obi Wan’s voice …. From a certain point of view 🙂

yes they did, because you weren’t meant to see it yet. Disney will tell you when it OK to see the artwork, also Disney will tell some people why there opinions are wrong about Last Jedi, Tell you why you should like what the are producing.
All hail the mouse overlord
The Range Trooper kind of reminds me of the specialized troopers in The Force Unleashed. Loved that game, so fine by me. That speeder doesn’t look half-bad, either.
That battle pack looks pretty good imo, with the speeder actually resembling something from the movie (going by a leaked image from some time ago).
Troopers, Landspeeders, Tie Fighters and the Millennium.
Yes, I’m in.
So it looks like that’s a confirmation that the artwork from a few weeks ago is legit. I’m desperate to see a trailer now. I’m cautiously optimistic about this movie.
Not at all a fan of the Falcon’s pointier front end without the opening between the two peaks. I realize it’s not official canon anymore, but I liked the EU explanation that that was how it hauled large cargo, which also explained why the cockpit was offset so far to one side.
And I really hope the Empire sets don’t mean they have a large presence in the film as the main villains. I was hoping the film would mostly be criminals vs criminals in the Outer Rim, with very little involvement from the Empire.
Maybe that’s a detachable cargo pod that is docked between the Falcon’s mandibles. The original ship may have come with it, but Han ditched it over the years.
no that is another escuse to sell more products,
why does every standalone film have to redesign Imperial tech? new stormtroopers? Rogue One has new tie fighters, designed to fly inside planetary atmosphere, yet 11 months earlier they were fine flying on Jaccu.
At least they haven’t redesigned Vader for these…yet

“yet 11 months earlier they were fine flying on Jaccu.”
Those were TIE Fighters from 30 years later. 30 *years*
Its for when he goes camping.
I guess that would depend when this film takes place. Is it 5 years after RotS? 10 years? or closer to a New Hope. If closer to the fall of the Jedi, I could see criminal cartels forming up to fill the vacuum, but closer to New Hope its clear that the Empire has extended way out to the outer rim
From memory, Han was about 15 at the time of ROTS, so this would be at least 10 years later I assume.

Still canon. It’s mentioned in visual dictionaries for TFA and TLJ. Pablo mentioned this on Twitter a week or so ago as well, even posting some concept art that while official, wasn’t done in time for press.
The Falcon set: on the lower-right, we see minifigs that appear to be Chewie, a human character (Woody Harrelson’s?) and two droids. But it’s too blurry to see any details — dangit.
you can bet that this film is the main topic of focus groups at disney HQ. they cant afford another Last Jedi fiasco. now before anybody starts yelling ” a billion dollars”, understand the movie is the locomotive of the train that pulls disney star wars, there is more at stake, there building theme parks!
If they cant satisfy the fans, they are going to have big $$$ problems.
There target audience is the older fans with the $$$$, not the dozen or so kids here that work at toys r us hiding figures.
I am standing by my prediction that this gets pushed back to Dec, no way they can risk releasing this cash cow so close to Avengers and bombing
fiasco… HAHAHAHAHAHA.. You are funny.
I wish my fiascoes could give me billions of dollars.
Yeeeaaah right??? that $1 billion box office fiasco… Highest grossing turd of the year………
yes right up there with quality masterpieces like Transformers 2 and Fast and Furious 7. Go see it again and maybe you can push it up to Ironman 3 numbers
Asian countries love those movies and boost their worldwide totals. Star Wars never caught on in Asia apart from Japan.
It lost out to a second sequel to a home-grown romcom this week!
Ironically named after ROTJ, the earlier film was named after TESB.
@ArmchairFilmmaker:disqus @disqus_sso4AhuQWy:disqus
Unfortunately i was not able to ask for a refund so i did added to the $1B -> i will make sure it wont happen again with any future SW movie.
Will see the movie off-cinema first and check spoiler reviews and then decide whether i will add any $ to the box office sum.
Exactly to avoid this type of arguments and to show Disney that they can not put a STAR WARS label on a shit and still count on it, that it will sell.
Well that’s just your opinion, which I respect, but your 9 bugs of a cinema ticket won’t convince Disney that they are “putting Star Wars on a shit”. Angry fans are not in a majority here, and I haven’t still seen a kid saying The Last Jedi sucks. Lucas said at Celebration these movies are for 12 year old, and with Disney, they continue to be so. I’m 31, I just like to plug-in my innocence and be a little naif as soon as the LFL logo appears on-screen.
I have talked with a lot of kids about TLJ, and they all loved it too. This trilogy is really theirs.

I doubt in the billions they are making that they will miss your $10.
I doubt in the billions they are making that they will miss your $10.
They’ve made 4 billion and change on three movies now. If you think that’s a fiasco, you must be smoking crack. If pissing off some 40 year olds by not producing predictable fan service movies causes them to lose viewers, so be it. Star Wars needs to change and evolve rather than shoveling the same stuff over and over again to please fanboys.
Agree
Change and evolve? This trilogy is shaping up just like the OT. TFA was a crowd pleaser like ANH, TLJ was a downer just like ESB, and now we go back to JJ for a crowd pleaser Episode 9 just like ROTJ.
TLJ had so many elements from ESB/ROTJ, with RJ just rearranging the chess pieces. Rey goes to train with Luke, same as ESB. Snoke/Rey/Kylo throne room scene taken from ROTJ. Benecio Del Toro turns on Rey/Finn, just like Lando in ESB. The Battle of Creight and those AT-AT look a likes are just like the Battle of Hoth.
I loved TFA and admit it wasn’t that original, but I don’t get this spin that TLJ was so original and it is going to save the franchise from getting stale. Most people I know loved TFA, where it is split with TLJ, and that makes sense since the movie is 220 million dollars behind for the box office.
I don’t get what RJ was doing is that Disney was riding a good wave after TFA.
I’m not talking about plot points or aesthetic similarities. It upended everything we know about who can experience the force. Rey is a nobody who proves that someone doesn’t need special lineage or years of Jedi teaching to master the force. Both Rey and Ren are moving the saga beyond the Jedi vs. Sith dichotomy and the misguided dogma of Jedi teachings. This is the evolution I was talking about.
“Fiasco?”
Interesting choice of words to describe a film that has everyone at LFL and the big D popping cahmpagne corks from sun up to sundown.
And for the record, I don’t personally know a single “older fan” who didn’t enjoy the heck out of the film.
I know. Me (44yo) and all of my middle aged buddies thought it was great. Haters gonna piss and moan.
I wonder what your opinion of the prequels was?
Certainly not a fiasco but I’m 48yo and although none of us hated TLJ we were all disappointed by it and there was quite a bit we didn’t like. Also, we all went to see TFA & R1 3 times however none of us have been a second time to TLJ.
Fair enough. A film is subjective and you feel about it how you feel about it. Personally, I found it to be very refreshing.
Fair enough. A film is subjective and you feel about it how you feel about it. Personally, I found it to be very refreshing.
Well, I’m 44 and saw ANH originally in the summer of 77. Don’t like TLJ, won’t see it a 2nd time- at least not in the theater. Plus I thought TFA and R1 weren’t great shakes, either.
Biggest problem I have with the Disney SW films is that they are too self-conscious, almost to the point of being downright cynical.
Fair opinion, but that’s where we differ. Saw all the originals back in the day as well, but so far I’m really enjoying the direction that LFL is taking SW.
As a 33 year old (old..ish?), I loved TLJ and thought it was a very nice step up from TFA which I felt was too “safe” (but still good). I’m still debating whether I enjoyed TLJ or R1 more. So far I’m liking all the newer movies better than the prequels which I’ve been lukewarm on ever since they were released. But who am I kidding, I rewatch the ones I’m not entirely fond of anyway, because Star Wars ¯_(ツ)_/¯
They don’t need to satisfy the fans, and by fans I mean people like you who seem to believe you represent the global hive mind of Star Wars fandom. It’s called a “vocal minority” for a reason, and for every disgruntled fan who drops out, there are several kids who are just discovering the franchise and beginning their journey.
Their target market is not older fans, you’d just like to believe it is because you’ve grown up with the films. You are just one segment in a larger strategic plan. Sorry to burst your bubble.
No bubble burst at all, i’m old enough to have a discussion without any passive aggressive BS that seams to come from those that like this movie.
I had not thought of the kids introduced to Star Wars with this film. How sad it is for them that this is their first experience unlike what you and I got to have growing up.
The Falcon will probably do the Kessel Run in 14 parsecs so Rey can be right when she mentions it in TFA. Just another white man telling a lie. Before anyone jumps my butt, I’m just poking fun at all Mary Sue comments.
haha that was good.
han will not be the pilot, Amelia Clark will be. Watch
I hope you are wrong. There are so many ways they could mess up Han’s backstory. I could easily see them doing something like that and explain it away as he was always a scoundrel until he met Leia.
You know how they can mess up Han’s backstory? By revealing it, period. We don’t need this movie. Haven’t the prequels taught us that knowing where your heroes come from is rarely a net positive? There is zero chance that toxic Star Wars fandom will embrace whatever the film makes canon.
I agree, kinda. I think it can be cool to learn a person’s origin if it’s done well, but it so rarely is.
It’s the SHIP that made the Kessel Run. Han learned everything…EVERYTHING….from her.
They better not.
They better not.
What? Why change the iconic look of the Falcon? Ain’t they ever heard of “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it?” Also, since when does Han wear light brown? He’s always been dressed in darker shades. I was cautiously optimistic when all the talent got brought on board. I really like the majority of the cast and crew, but with this god awful marketing artwork, and the images I’m seeing of the characters all looking like goofy bladerunner washouts, I’m really getting wet feet. Hopefully a trailer can convince me this isn’t going to suck.
“I’ve made a few special modifications myself…”
I will imagine the main idea behind changing the look of the Falcon was to sell more toys. Kids/collectors aren’t going to buy a repackaged falcon. Although they might if they just took the nerf guns off the darn things.
Lando looks at the Falcon in Empire and from first sight says: “what have you done to my ship?”, ergo if this movie wasn’t showing evidence that the ship was different, fanboys would be raging and saying “whaaat a plooothoooole!!! screenwriting 101!!!!”
Good catch. I was thinking about the line like – I did some special modification to it myself (not in quotas, lazy to search the exact line)
But it will make that mentioned line even more valid.
Remember also, it was already “The Fastes Hunk Of Junk in the Galaxy” as Lando had previously known it.
Remember also, it was already “The Fastes Hunk Of Junk in the Galaxy” as Lando had previously known it.
If you look closely, the gun turrets have also been modified from one canons per turret in this Solo design to the four canons per turret that we know from the OT. That’s a change I can get behind, and that quote was my first thought as well when hearing that the Falcon’s appearance would be different in this new film. Maybe Lando modified it to simply be a racing ship instead of a cargo hauler.
He was asking that in response to Han stating that he’s here ( on Cloud City ) for “repairs” – I read Lando’s line to mean “What have you done to my ship – how have you damaged it??”
One of my first though was also “to sell more toys”. But @ArmchairFilmmaker:disqus has a valid point. Also Lando could use the ship for a more representative use, other than just smuggling. While Han modified it to look like a junk (maybe in purpose) and to be more practical then good looking.
I personally find that shape interesting and it shows the more variations of YT-1300 as depicted in the book Millennium Falcon: Owners Workshop Manual (page 15)
SW Fan: We need new designs, bored of all these same ideas.
Gets new designs.
SW Fan: Aye, but you only did that to sell more toys.
SW Fan probably meant new designs for new vehicles, not redesign an existing creation, because we can!
Having said that there may be a relevant plot point for why it looks that way and it may not even look that way throughout the film.
Remember in ESB Lando does remark “What have you done with my ship?”.
I’m pretty sure there’s a middle ground grey-area between messing with the most iconic Star Wars ship of all time in a way that specifically delegitimizes some awesome fan theories regarding its use and construction, vs. creating entirely new vehicles and craft. Just sayin’. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/2e99d8e35a34318ecff89071c086768414c92fcb378b417ca6bcef9776563e3e.jpg
It was more a general observation.
Never thought I’d see someone else who owned that book. I’ve got the Death Star one too. Some of the information in it is a bit out of date now, but it’s still pretty neat to have.
With you on the Falcon. My heart dropped when I saw what they did 🙁
Why they hell do you think The Falcon would look the same? Han TOLD YOU he made a lot of special modifications himself. It would be against cannon if it was all the same.
1. When did Han wear brown? Obviously before we as filmgoers met him, and before he became the Han Solo that we are familiar with.
2. Why change the iconic look of the Falcon? Lucas added the blue highlights in Revenge of the Sith. The section in between the mandibles is a cargo pod.
Nah. Han should have been tossed into a dark onesie the moment he was born. Man, some fans just can’t deal with anything.
Apparently Han’s Hoth Winter Coat is brown. He also wore brown trousers in ROTJ.
Just don’t watch it. Do yourself a favour.
I’m starting to be excited about this film. I think the way to enjoy it will be as any comic, novel or cartoon we’ve seen so far, rather than really a film that you can match with the saga (Rogue 1), otherwise we will be ultrachritic with Alden just for not being Harrison (seen here how someone commented his arms doesn’t match with those from Harrison!). It’s okay… We will have a chance to see wookies, and they will probably look more organic than those from Revenge of the Sith (those composed images from wookies in front of a greenscreen are one of the less appealing visuals in the whole SW saga) and we will see the kessel run. Ready… Go! https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/11d3246b12a6a5b4e1873b09f122650aea2a8825f6563dc7de81f167dae6386d.jpg
“(those composed images from wookies in front of a greenscreen are one of the less appealing visuals in the whole SW saga)”
I know what you mean – no matter how many times I rewatch the Kashyyyk scenes from ROTS, they do not land with me, and I cannot retain them in my memory for some reason – it may well be that the overly ( fake ) composites, coupled with scenes seemingly quickly cutting to other scenes elsewhere in the film, makes the whole wookiee scenes seem rushed and/or abandoned.
More evidence that we can now change the title of the move to:
Solo: Memba’ all that stuff I said in A New Hope: A Star Wars Story.

My eyes are on fire now after looking at the Falcon.
Woof.
Sweet! Nice to see the Falcon in it’s Stellar Envoy color scheme from the RotS days.
Indeed, gotta give this redesign some credit as the color scheme is already canonical: https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/937562a0745a0e3506e0dc5926752959d6fe4826e57c69da1c10f6b66bf4064b.jpg
That’s the Falcon from RotS, under the Stellar Envoy name…at least according to the concepts from the film. 😉
Interesting! For some reason I thought it was a different YT-1300. Is that confirmed in canon as well as legends?
It’s canon. RotS is listed as one of the Falcon’s appearances in the databank on starwars.com, and Lucas confirmed it prior to that.
http://www.starwars.com/databank/millennium-falcon
So It didn’t have that stupid thing in the middle before, Han then added it and then took it off. Seems really unnecessary.

Yeah, strange. My guess is Lando ends up adding the mod to the front for racing (return of Canto Bight maybe?), and Han restores it to its OG configuration for general purposes.
It’s not a mod, from the leaked concept art it’s a removable cargo container that fits between the Falcon’s mandibles. It’s not a new idea, having been mentioned in the EU, and Kenner even planned a mini-rig ship that fit in the same area:

If correct that would be super cool and exactly what I was hoping for. I ‘member that Mini Rig concept fondly. 🙂
I hope this is the case, and not them eschewing canon for the sake of a “cool” design. Like, I’m worried this is gonna be what the original YT-1300 looks like, and the scoop in the front is part of Han’s mods to the ship. So yeah, I hope you’re right, but it doesn’t look like that section is detachable on the Lego set. You’d think if this was the case, it would be. :-/
Anyone else find it ironic that the first glimpse we’re getting of this property is through the Lego brand?
Not really. Wouldn’t be the first time this sort of thing has happened.
So true. It would not have hurt Disney to simply release the official poster a week ago before the leaks.
How is it ironic?
Lord and Miller > The Lego Movie
Lord and Miller > The Lego Movie
What are the alien creatures that look like headless warthogs?
“Correlian Hounds”
I quite like the look of the speeders, plus I prefer more grounded play with my boy, so much easier than having to do dog-fights with Lego ships that fall apart. That being said, nice looking Falcon.
Well so far, even though it’s lego, I like what I see. I’m cautiously optimistic that this could be good and will make up for the disappointment I felt with TLJ. Does seem to be that when a Star Wars production has a few issues it turns out to be a great movie.
What have they done to the Falcon?!!!!!!
It’s definitely drastic but I wonder if it’s some modification made specifically for the Kessel Run in the film, as the Lego set is called “Kessel Run Millenium Falcon,” that allows it to make the run in 12 parsecs versus whatever is the standard travel time.
Also the range trooper looks like it will be basically the hovertank/scarif trooper body armor with a standard stormtrooper helmet.
“that allows it to make the run in 12 parsecs versus whatever is the standard travel time.”
TARDIS with a functioning chameleon circuit.
That’s a cargo pod up front. Solo ejected one that contained Jabba’s stuff which is why he got so pissed
What *haven’t* they done 😉
Well, they didn’t paint it pink 😀
Also brace yourselves for a ton of this kind clickbait bullshit

This was put out right when Last Jedi took a nose dive at the box office, I doubt they are planning for a bomb. More likely they will push back the release date to Dec again. Disney has had a lot of success with the late year releases.
I doubt they’ll do that. It would undercut Mary Poppins too much, I get. They probably reshot as much as they could and then hurried and edited everything in time for release.
I actually had to think for a minute if you were talking about Leia or….
Don’t even talk to me about this “Leia Poppins” shit, I can’t. A lot of the same people whining about Lea floating in space (where there is no gravity) are whining about bobs dropping space because there’s not gravity.
At least be consistent.
Two speculations: (1) The bounty hunter minifig looks to be in the same general “insectoid” classification as the Gand (IE: Zuckuss), the Tognath (IE: Endrio Two Tubes) and Melitto (Sarco Plank). The respirator appears similar to Boushh’s as well. (2) The term “Range” Trooper adds more credence to my sense that this movie will be heavily influenced by the classic western film genre (IE: “Home, home on the range…”). /nerdout

Ranch Troopers?
Artificially inseminating space wolf dogs all across the galaxy ..!
The Range Trooper is a cross between a standard Stormtrooper and a Biker Scout. The top chest plate has the U shape neck line and rectangle decal lifted straight from the Scout. Also the helmet vocoder has scout elements. Also the legs are a black flight suit.
Have you seen it somewhere else?
I have. I have an fx makeup artist friend on set. The Lego figure is about 90% accurate. It’s a hybrid of a traditional Stormie and an RotJ scout. It looks really cool.
This better have Greedo in it.
That’s exactly the kind of fan service that I hope to God Lucasfilm avoids.
No way. That is a perfect moment to have imo. In the cantina, Greedo says, “I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time.” Obviously they have a history.
WE. DON’T. NEED. TO. SEE. EVERY. THROWAWAY. LINE. OF. DIALOGUE. TURNED. INTO. AN. EVENT.
Thank you.
Doesn’t have to be an event. Just a nod would do.
This movie has already confirmed that it will be making hay out of virtually every line of dialogue Ford spoke in either SW or Empire. It’s ALREADY overloaded – let’s just leave some things unexplained.

Yeah, but how long is a “long time”? I’m worried that the Solo film could just turn into a checklist of over-explaining throway lines from the original trilogy as if they needed any explanation in the first place.

Still doesn’t need to be explained. But it would make sense if he showed up, and not just as a “fan service.”
I didn’t really even like seeing Panda and Dr. Evazan in Rogue One because it makes the universe smaller. I mean, I guess it’s believable that they could both show up on Tatooine mere days later but it still seemed forced.
A New Hope always made it seem like Greedo just happened to stumble across Han Solo at that moment in time, or like he was waiting for him there, giving Greedo the perfect opportunity to capture or kill Han. It wouldn’t make much sense to me to see Greedo chasing Han around 10 years before A New Hope following him around or whatever.
About the only cameo that would make sense to me, is if this movie sends us to Tatooine for a meeting between Han and Jabba and then we see Greedo there or something.
If Greedo does show up in this movie, they shouldn’t be buddy buddy, and it shouldn’t be at a location that doesn’t make sense.
Don’t know if Greedo will be in the movie but I’ve just read the Star Wars novel “from a certain point of view”. Greedo and Han definitely know each other and Greedo was waiting for Han in the cantina.

Hmmm I haven’t read that yet, I’m sure they have met before but I wouldn’t expect them to be rivals or anything like that.
I really enjoyed the book and would recommend it. It tells the story of ANH but from the point of view of the side characters, Greedo being one. He’s hated Han for quite some time (it doesn’t say why though) and he sees the bounty in his head as a way of getting back at him.
Quick question everybody
If Lord and Miller were fired from Solo, because of the over the top humor, and yet your mama jokes made it into the Last Jedi, how bad do you think the humor was here?
I’m not sure if their humor was bad but probably not of the type of humor KK wanted. This could mean that it was actually pretty good since KK doesn’t seem to have much understanding of SW humour if she thinks prankcalls are a good idea to have in a SW movie.
I would classify Hans conversation to stall for time in a New hope as prank call humor.
I think it was less about the humor and more about them going off book and improving too much
Han and Poe’s calls were both stalling for time humor, just different types of humor were used.

A lot of what fans are complaining about in this film has in some way happened before. And I though all these fans knew the films inside and out! I agree with some of the humour not fitting and I didn’t like the overuse of old dialogue and a few others things but over all it was a hoot. I particularly loved the sound effects and music and the editing of, one of the best yet. Mark was was a highlight but Chewie and Especially R2 got overlooked
Yeah which is totally compareable with a “Yo mama joke” turning Hux into a joke. Also how do you guys think that because the OT did it it’s cool to have it in TLJ. But this other guy stole a car too so I’m innocent. That’s the kind of logic people bring to the table. TLJ had some cases of terrible forced humor. But the prequels had Jar Jar! So what they both sucked!
“Also how do you guys think that because the OT did it it’s cool to have it in TLJ.”
Because the original trilogy are three fantastic films. people don’t complain about the humor in those films because half of the people complaining were kids when the OT films were released, not cynical adults who complain about *GASP* humor in a Star Wars film as if it’s some foreign concept.
I don’t recall disliking Star Wars humor until Boba Fetts Three Stooges death in ROTJ.
Jar Jar was a whole new level of fucking stupid that I thought we would never see again until that ridiculous alien belched into BB8’s face or Maz having a wet memory over George Hamilton. The phone scene un TLJ passes for me because the theatre has responed well to it each time.
So because Jar Jar was worse the prankcall is okay? That doesn’t make sense but whatever.
I honestly wondered the same thing.
The situation was much more complicated then that. Rumors were saying that han behaved like ace ventura in this film and that they were ignoring kasdans script which is apparently really good.
Let’s be clear about that though. ONE rumor, from an anonymous source inside LFL, that only surfaced AFTER they were fired. ONE source said it was all the fault of the guy’s they’d just fired, and everything else was wonderful on the film. Doesn’t pass the smell test for me.
I actually don’t think the humour was the reason ( reading between the lines of all the reports ).
Lord & Millar were filming for months and months – enough time for KK and co. to watch and comment on the dailies – my interpretation from a number of the reports is that KK wanted to wrest back control of the project from Lord & Miller and hand it over to another director for overhauling ( ala ROGUE ONE ).
Unlike on Rogue One, Lord & Miller objected to another director stepping in at such a late stage and taking the project from them, even if in theory they ( L&M ) would be allowed to keep credit ( just as R1 allowed Gareth Edwards to keep credit even though much of what was onscreen was Tony Gilroy’s work ).
And so Lord & Miller were summarily fired.
The reports about “sources claim” the directors ( Lord & Miller ) are making an Ace Ventura style comedy have no doubt had Lucasfilm and Disney’s blessing.
I am sure L&M may indeed have been overwhelmed by the huge corporate machinery of Disney, and I imagine BOTH parties were to blame. But I feel the larger portion of the blame should be attributed to KK & Lucasfilm.
I think you’ve got a reasonable analysis there. We know from their filmography that “Ace Ventura in…” is not their style at all (frankly, I think the wry tone of the character would have been right in their wheelhouse); we know that they’ve made very commercial films for very large studios, with very powerful stakeholders involved before, without any reported strife; and we also know that LFL proposing to appoint another director to oversee their work, and to whom they would ultimately report, was one of the sticking points that was rumored very early on to have been the last straw for them.

I wish some of the geek websites and youtube channels who’ve been reporting this story previously had been as discerning as you. You’re actually the first person I’ve come across who pointed out the key points which some sites have ( purposefully? ) missed or ignored.
I just think Disney and KK fell in love with Rian Johnson, and didn’t realize that the humor in TLJ was probably just as bad as the humor would have been in Han Solo.
Rian Johnson reminds me of these hot shot coaches these Owners hire in Sports who think they will change the game and are the future of the sport. Then they turn out to be nothing better then what is out there now. In a sense: Disney overrated Rian Johnson.
And like professional coaches that fail miserably, they will continue to get promoted upwards. They go from team to team being hailed as the new savior, but in the end they really just sucked as bad
Here’s to hoping that the real reason was that Han was starting to look less like a sarcastic hustler and more like Lone Starr.
Hopefully the backlash will result in some de-Marvellizatuon of future scripts.

DD-BD is that her stage name? Like Lexus or Mercedes, will she headline Satin Dolls?
Did K-2SO?
I wish the droid was called Bollux ( or Zollux ).
yes the good old days, wiped clean by the wrath of Disney
The question is, will she be called Double D on screen?
DD-BD? A droid? Likely to be called DeeDee I’d guess.
Quay Tolsite has to be anagram?
So… Qi’ra… is that Emilia Clarkes character name? As in “Kira”? Lol
It’s a very “interesting” way to spell that name, but yeah, I think so.
“At this point, it’s looking like the Imperial Patrol Battle Pack listed in the above albums has nothing to do with Solo”
But then why does it have Range Troopers?
To me, it looks like this:

Yep, I think you’re exactly right.
Looking forward to the world building, and new planets
You know what, this film actually looks pretty creative! I see three new vehicles, plenty of new characters, and those “hounds” seem cool too. Maybe this film will actually have some creativity instead of relying on gratuitous fanservice and nostalgic callbacks.
Maybe.
EDIT, just noticed this pic up top when scrolled, missed that.
Sorry.
Don’t know if this has been posted , new Falcon Lego set , video is in French. Notice the new front, is this where he keeps the cargo that he dumps in space resulting in Jabba’s vendetta against him?

Han Solo is looking pretty awesome! May 25th can’t come soon enough!
May The 25th Be With You.
Such a missed opportunity not to release it 24 days before. Maybe next time!
I’m in the absolute minority here, but not only did I want this movie to happen, but I absolutely want ALL the fan service. This is an opportunity to just let us wallow in nostalgia — the kessel run (the spice mines of kessel!), corellia, saving chewie, winning the falcon from Lando, early run-ins with Greedo, dumping his cargo and ticking off Jabba (a jabba puppet, PLEASE!), smuggling spice…..I mean, c’mon — since this movie does nothing (as far as we know) to impact the mythology or the Skywalker bloodline, why not just go all-in with crowd-pleasing popcorn fun? I’ve had 40 years to imagine this stuff, so even if they screw it up it can’t ruin all those years (contrary to the “it ruined my childhood” crap), and if they get it right it’ll be a blast.
Do I expect them to pull it off? Not really, but I’m not sure what it can hurt. Honestly, I think it all falls on Alden’s shoulders, poor guy.
All the anthology films should be fan-service IMO 🙂
You know what, that’s actually a very nihilistically optimistic way of looking at things.
I like it.
Seems like this film will finally donsomething I wished more Star Wars films would do: take us to minor preexisting canon planets or planets we’ve seen in other films, and this is something I hoped the ST would do but didn’t do so far. Where’s Coruscant?
Agreed.
I’ve been reluctant about this film from the start, but this eases my mind at least a little bit.
Seeing Corellia would almost be a given, but Mimban? Damn, that;s some ancient EU there..!
Not that I’m all for the “bring back all of the EU”, but stuff like this does make me a happy panda.
Still, I have my preservations, especially about the whole “checking all the boxes regarding Han’s history” issue.
Anyhoo, count me cautiously and relucantly optimistic at this point 🙂
“Where’s Coruscant?”
The read I’ve gotten from the ST is that the action is taking place pretty distant from the galactic center. The First Order, emerging from the unknown regions, begins to grab territory on the outskirts of the mapped galaxy. Now…TLJ seems to suggest that the FO has secured many critical systems across the galaxy (not crazy about that idea – I much prefer the idea that this trilogy focus on a smaller-scale military campaign.) but while Coruscant is undeniably important to the galaxy, it just doesn’t seem to naturally work its way into the story.
They could have for example put Coruscant instead of Hosnian. True, the vis. dictionary locates D’Qar and Crait around Hoth, Dagobah and such, but I will have to disaggree: what’s satisfying about a small scale conflict? It would not seem an enough interesting topic for a ST.
They could’ve, but they didn’t. I don’t see what would necessarily be so dissatisfying about a small scale conflict. Not everything that happens need threaten the entire galaxy. A movie about Vietnam and the human drama that occurs there need not be any less interesting than a similar story against the backdrop of WW2.
That’s one of my critiques of what I thought was otherwise a fantastic movie. From what I understood, the First Order was born from those remnants of the Empire that fled the charted parts of the galaxy rather than make peace with the New Republic. After a few decades, reorganized and rearmed, they emerge to begin their reconquest of the galaxy. The Republic, still war-weary after decades of fighting, is slow to react. A small group of volunteers drawn mostly from the areas under the most imminent threat of the First Order and those whose memories of the Empire haven’t faded organize themselves into the Resistance in order to stymie the aggression of the First Order.
So…I saw this as a smaller, regional conflict. And I was okay with that. Sort of like a group of Nazis escape Germany at the end of World War Two and hide themselves somewhere in South America. Years later, they grow bold and make moves to take over a few South American countries. That’s a far, far cry from world domination, but they are still bad guys and the people in those countries still matter so a bunch of grizzled WW2 vets hook up and head down there to deal with a threat nobody else cares to handle. Not everything needs to rattle the fate of the entire galaxy. The human drama going on here would be the same. But instead, the First Order has somehow secured control of the entire galaxy and the Resistance are again…Rebels? I don’t know. That sorta doesn’t work. Eh, whatever.
Hosnian Prime became the new seat of power. Too bad it got Snoked in TFA.
I just want to see some of the original alien races, why do they all have to be new except Chewbacca? At least R1 had a twi’lek in it, as well as a peak a Coruscant.
True. I also recall finding in the vis. dictionary for VII some *similar* races but none already seen…
the imperial battlepack looks nice, definetely getting that one
I really like these Wampadogs. Seeing alien animals on screen is always cool. The Vulpixes and Fathiers were a nice additiont o the Canon, I hope the dogs get even more screentime 🙂
I feel the ‘wampadogs’ comparison to the Hoth Wamp is misleading – the wampadogs have eyes on the side of their faces; the nostrils above the mouth may give them a slight wampa-ish feel in the lego toy, but a rancor would probably be a better comparison.

They could also be naked by the looks of it. I still like them though. Tehy have a really cool silhouette.
I wasn’t big on the Fathiers but I loved the Vulpixes… and having them be there for more than just eye candy was a cool spin on it. The whole… “Where did they go?”
It’s *VULPTICES* you CASUAL!! #NotARealStarWarsFan

:/ First Swolo Ren and now this. I brought shame upon my family!
Strange that there hasn’t been a trailer yet. Anyone else think this is gonna get bumped to December?
Not with the merchandise already beginning to surface
Disney was waiting to see how Last Jedi does in China, with the box office not being what they hoped, they make take a more constructive look at Solo. To release this within 2 weeks of what will be the years biggest hit – The Avengers – doesn’t make real financial sense. Better to put it against Mary Poppins, where there will be little if any fan bleed over
“Han Solo (Imperial Disquise), Tobias Beckett (Imperial Disquise)”
So this is the third sw film in a row that has good guys disquise themself as bad guys….How original…
It’s becoming the new, “I’ve got a bad feeling about this…”
I blame ANH, it started it all…….
If you look at the box, it doesn’t actually say “Imperial Disguise”. I think it’s just from before those two characters defect; they’re both Imperials, after all.
I hear they breathe in this movie, ugh not again
I’m weirdly getting more optimistic about this one as it draws near. I think I’m over the whole… Harrison Ford is the only Han Solo thing.
It’s hard to explain but I sort turned a corner on accepting it’s like a play. Actors of different generations are retelling us a story that happened (yes I know it’s fiction lol). They don’t always have to match the original.
I’m probably coming off as babbling but I’m good with the new kid is all I’m saying. Provided he’s decent… 😛
The “Harrison Ford is the only Han Solo” thing was always a bit weird anyway. We’ve had ‘The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles’ since 1992!
They should make the tagline for this movie:
“HAN ON”
Someday soon, when the alien forces amassing on the dark side of the moon launch their attack on humanity, all of this Star Wars stuff is gonna seem rather insignificant.

Are you kidding? Saying “YOU WERE ALL WRONG ABOUT THE PREQUELS” to anonymous people on the internet is the whole reason they came!
Oh nay nay — if you’re talking about the ones from Planet Straw Man, they have phosphorescent pudding-brains and pose zero threat.
I was looking forward to this movie until they chose Lord and Miller. It is not even that I think they are bad – just not suited for this.
I hope Ron Howard managed to repair the problems and avoid poor comedy overload. It would be such a waste to lose this legendary opportunity.
The limited imagery shown so far looks good. The falcon new look (old look?) is also great. I had no idea about the old unreleased toy with detachable ship.
Rebelscum broke news that the Range Trooper is not that minifig. They show a LEGO box set of a build-able figure called the Range Trooper that looks similar to the Imperial Tank Driver crossed with Snowtrooper.
Maybe the Trooper that comes with that speeder is called an “Imperial Patrol Trooper”.
“Tobias Beckett”
Is this the first STAR WARS character with a fully-fledged Earth name?
