UPDATE! Some Updates On Solo: A Star Wars Story – Including a First Look at the Cast? Possible Cameos, & Trailer Coming Soon?
Now that Star Wars: The Last Jedi is finally out, the focus will naturally shift to Solo. Take a look inside to get a glimpse at some merchandise leaks and learn when we might get our first look at the movie.
First up, I’d like to point out the only visual leak that we have – Thandie Newton’s appearance in the film, as recreated by LEGO (and a returning character from a new set that suggests there could be some kind of cameo):
Thandie Newton’s character from Solo (LEGO minifig) from StarWarsLeaks
The image of Thandie Newton’s LEGO-ified character is decidedly not an Imperial outfit, like it was suggested by one of the photos shared by Ron Howard on Twitter. Meanwhile, there are apparently a few subtle details separating Boba Fett’s appearance here from how he’s appeared previously, which may or may not indicate that he’ll get a cameo in Solo.
Next up is some listings regarding the merchandise. First, there are a list of 11 Funko POP! bobbleheads for Solo, along with one for The Last Jedi:
Solo: A Star Wars Story Funko Pops spotted in GameStop pre-order list, release date 04/06/18 from StarWarsLeaks
Meanwhile, Brickfanatics have just seen this image indicating when the next set of LEGO are going to arrive:
There will be five LEGO sets released in time for the movie along with two buildable figures – and it’s been suggested that the two sets related to The Phantom Menace and Revenge Of The Sith teased in the image above, are unrelated to the Solo line. Curiously, there’s a discrepancy between the given “sell date” on the Funko toys and the date that the LEGO arrive. It could be that the store gets stocked with Solo Funko toys two weeks ahead of the actual toy event and that they aren’t actually sold until then.
One more thing worth noting is that a finding from Yakface indicates that at least half of the next wave of Black Series toys will be based on Solo, with one toy in particular implying that a certain character may be making another appearance:
2x Han Solo
2x Imperial Range Trooper
1x Captain Lando Calrissian
1x Grand Moff Tarkin
1x Death Squad Commander (40th Anniv. repack)
1x Jawa (40th Anniv. repack)
So yeah, there’s a chance that Tarkin might be in the movie, in addition to (maybe) Boba Fett. It’s difficult to tell with the way the list is written – and I can’t wait to see whatever this “Range Trooper” is. So far, these merchandise lists seem to indicate that a good portion of the content that will hit on the next big marketing event will be related to previous films as opposed to just focusing on Solo, which to me indicates that there’s more reused content in this film than there has been for the others. It also suggests that Disney has more modest financial expectations for the film. (If it doesn’t make $1B globally but otherwise makes a lot of cash, that’s okay.)
In addition, Cinelinx author Jordan Maison has recently been saying that we should expect the first wave of visual content to arrive very, very soon:
Welp…we'll definitely be seeing some #Solo stuff within the next 2-3 weeks. #StarWars

At this point, I think that Lucasfilm is about ready to kick the ad campaign for this movie into overdrive. Marketing on this movie was always going to be weird with the way Lucasfilm promotes their movies (as, so far, we have not seen a preview for next year’s Star Wars film attached to this year’s Star Wars film), as it would have been with The Last Jedi had that released in May of this year as originally planned.
Lastly, there’s a little detail in the next issue of Empire that I feel is worth discussing. While the article doesn’t really tell us anything we don’t already know, it does hint that the golden dice that appear in the Millennium Falcon‘s cockpit will play a role in the movie.
If that’s the case, then this would serve as a nice bit of connective tissue between Solo and The Last Jedi, where the dice were symbolically used to reunite Han with Luke and Leia at the end. In any case, it won’t be long before we learn a lot more about this movie, so stay tuned.
UPDATE!
Reddit also has another image from Solo posted on their site. Here it is:
The art looks really great and too good to be fan made. Some sites got responds from Disney reps that they don’t know about this image, but I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss it as fake. Actually other sites got takedown notices for it. As we said on Twitter in time we will see…
I wouldn't be so quick to call that #Solo art "fake". Disney tells one site they don't know about the existence of this image, and LFL tells another site to take it down. It just looks too good for your random fan art. We will see…

And thanks to our reader KyloRen here’s the actual source of the leak: Licensing Russia. Definitely seems legit.
Grant has been a fan of Star Wars for as long as he can remember, having seen every movie on the big screen. When he’s not hard at work with his college studies, he keeps himself busy by reporting on all kinds of Star Wars news for SWNN and general movie news on the sister site, Movie News Net. He served as a frequent commentator on SWNN’s The Resistance Broadcast.
This movie makes me feel like a gambling addict: “This is the one, just one more, the next time will be the good one, just one more…”
I loved the last 3, so I also feel like a gambler… let it roll!
Out of curiosity Mr Gerry Blue. What are your 3 favourite SW movies?
OT, though I find TPM and RoTS not so bad in their fanedited versions. AoTC I don’t fancy that much. How about you?
Empire, A New Hope, The Last Jedi.
Yep, that’s my Top 3 as well.
Really? TLJ made your top 3 as well? Woooo!!!
That’s what I have been saying: if you don’t like one, there is always another coming soon!
I know its not the popular thing to say right now, since everyone for some reason hated the last Jedi and without seeing a single frame of footage from this movie has already written it off…but im excited to see this! I hope its really really good, just to prove everyone wrong. But then again the internet will find some minor flaw with it and just blow it way out of proportion and just say Disney ruined Star Wars and there childhoods yet again!
I’m not sure that many people hated TLJ, tbh. Impression I have from here, reddit and other venues is that the majority actually loved the movie.
(I’m not trying to start a discussion about it though, I couldn’t care less about how many loved vs. how many hated it)
I think the majority was okay with TLJ. Love and hate are probably both hyperboles.
Saw it twice, liked it both times.
Seen it 4 times already. Will pay for my whole year of Moviepass in January with TLJ.
I have to admit that Rogue One has become my favorite among the three Disney Star Wars. So I’m curious about Solo, because I wonder if I could develop a similar fondness for it. It intrigues me because it’s also a prequel, but set several years prior to RO/ANH.
And that is perfectly fine, man. Like what you like and dislike what you dislike. Han Solo, to be honest, never was my favorite character. Even with legends Han Solo trilogy, much as I like those stories, I just do not really care that much for him.
Outside of Chewbacca who is awesome. But to be fair, I love wookies. 🙂 Really, my interest was there with Lord and Miller as I am big fans of their work. But with them gone, I’m not really looking forward to it. Even though, Ron Howard is a good director.
But hey, be excited for the movie. I hope you and everyone else enjoy it. For I am glad that SWs is continuing to appeal to people like you.
I hate it when the star wars fan base is so divided. It makes me sad. I hate wanting to talk about these movies, and it’s like stepping on egg shells.
I though The Last Jedi was fine. It was not amazing, but I did not think of it as terrible either. It’s just the middle chapter of this trilogy.
The SWs fandom has always been divided, but this situation is one I argue LF could have mitigated had they supervised Rian Johnson. For I am like you, I enjoyed TLJ, in spite of some serious flaws.
But as a followup to The Force Awakens it sucks. And really exposes a flaw of consistency amongst the ST. I argue had this deconstructionist, post-modernist take on SWs been an anthology film; there would be backlash, but not as much as those movies are spinoffs.
But really, while it wasn’t unreasonable for people to ask for different things, it is also not unreasonable for those people to claim things went too far. It is all personal preference, but if consumers vote with their wallets(which I suspect the box office drop has something to do with that, amid a plethora of other factors), then really LF will have little choice but to respond.
But really, I do not fault those people who have issues with this movie. Because, to be honest; I’m more curious to see Nine than excited.
I can’t say that there is anything very exciting about that image. A trailer will probably be the main indicator on how hyped I get for this movie. Hard to believe a Star Wars film is coming out in 5 months and I’m not that excited.
It’s a fairly terrible poster if it’s real.
It’s not a poster, it’s toy packaging. Looks like it’s some kind of kid’s school binder design or something.
“Hello…what have we here?”
One way to one billion…Vader.
One way to one billion…Vader.
I’ve got a bad feeling about this…
After TLJ I could use some Star Wars that’s just fun entertrainment and feels like a part of the established canon rather than trying to go in a completely different direction. I really hope that we will get to see Cad Bane in this movie. Shriv in Battlefront 2 made me realize how much I want to see ma sarcastic and badass Duro in a SW movie 🙂
why not Shriv, maybe he’s a buddy of Lando’s before the Rebellion
Shriv was more of a giant wuss, wasn’t he?
Shriv was more of a giant wuss, wasn’t he?
Nah he never backed down from a battle and always seemed to rather enjoy fighting. Never looked like a wuss to me 🙂
Must have been all the whining during the Lando mission that made me think that 🙂
Seemed more like friendly bantering among friends to me 🙂

Red Letter Media is always excellent. Fair to point out the flaws but doesn’t fanboy out at every single thing that gets a lightsaber slapped on it. Cough cough cough Collider cough cough cough.
RLM spent a massive portion of their R1 review bitching, whining, and just generally being dismissive and derisive of the fact that…in a film set during the OT…there was iconography….FROM THE OT. Contrast that with Rich (?
I think?) practically cumming over a re-used Federation starship design in “Into Darkness”…you know, because he likes Star Trek. They tend to spend most of their reviews knocking down strawmen they set up for themselves, and have a particular knack for deliberately misrepresenting stuff that happens in a film. They occasionally hit on some valid, if obvious, criticism, but generally are insufferable jerk-offs, absolutely in love with the smell of their own farts.
You clearly don’t know squat about RLM because they hate into darkness. They also don’t hate R1. They pointed out valid issues then doubled down on them because it triggered fanboys.
I think the snarkiness Of their channel can get a bit tiresome as well. I do think that they know their expectations of their audience and are so quick to take down the popular stuff that they sometimes completely miss the point. All that being said If there is anyone in love with the smell of their own farts it’s Kristian Harloff. I will take the tiresome snark over the OMFG I love Star Wars and won’t say anything bad about it or else I won’t get invited to the premieres anymore nonsense that’s over at Collider. That’s just my opinion though.
So true on Harloff. The guy is very much a shill in a sad sense. Especially, given how he repressed his true feelings over The Last Jedi. And sure, they can change, but actively pushing for a movie to be seen a second time to get it, man that is clearly someone wanting to pander to LF.
Really, Heroes podcast is the only thing I listen to them. Jedi Council I find is a joke and is a giant disney LF infomercial.
I love the “they don’t pay us to say anythong I still drive a Toyota Camry” bit they love to point out. Yes Disney isn’t paying you directly, but they are telling your bosses to play ball and they in turn tell them to do the same. It’s basically why Campea (who I also really disliked) left.
I’m not surprised. It’s the mutual circle between these pundits and Hollywood. Positive buzz equals greater access/ premieres. And in Collider’s case, SWs premiere dates. And really, that should be kept in mind.
That isn’t to say it is all doom and gloom. There have been pundits at those premieres who have reflected upon films, like RO for example, and have admitted they were a bit too positive on the movie. But those are a dime a dozen. Harloff and Collider very much are slaves to that system.
And Jedi Council is really just one big “we love LF” fest, outside of Kathleen Kennedy and her firing of Lord and Miller. But I will give credit to Harloff and even Rocha for acknowledging that the movie is very polarizing. Unlike, Ellis whose dogmatism of thinking crazy theorists are the only ones disliking the film is laughable.
Campea, is detatched and is slightly better, but really he does have similiar issues I pointed out. Only, he isn’t bound to a company anymore.
Ironically, Campea loves TLJ more than anyone, practically, and he’s completely independent now.
That is where we are actually in agreement, Cranky. RLM are very condescending and come off as mean-spirited bullies quite often, honestly.
haven’t you quoted RLM often on these boards though? how interesting.
I’ve quoted their old prequel reviews because I find them funny, but even I concede that they have some nitpicks that don’t particularly matter.
What’s the point of making a video like this from a film that isn’t released yet? We haven’t even seen much.
Can’t they simply wait and then make a video, negative or positive, but with real informed opinions?
This kind of thing is Everything Wrong with the FIlm Community on the Internet Today (like, yes, the idiotic Everything Wrong videos).
I have a feeling this movie isn’t going to do 1 Billion like the other Disney SW films have. Maybe I’m wrong but I think Lucasfilm has greatly over estimated the interest in Han Solo.
Or Han Solo being played by a guy that isn’t Han Solo.
Han Solo has repeatedly been the winner in surveys asking fans who their favorite Star Wars character is. Obi-Wan is usually the second favorite. These near mythical surveys took place before The Disney era, before survey bots.
… Before the dark times, before the EMPIRE.
This movie represents the “Divided” fanbase we have today, this one is for the fans who are scared of change or risks and want their beloved characters immortalized and worshipped
I personally don’t think it’ll make a billion, it’ll likely be on a much smaller “Scale” than Rogue One, if you know what I mean. If Disney is expecting it to make a billion, I think they need to rethink those estimates.

Judging from the numbers The Last Jedi is doing- ‘Star Wars Fatigue’ looks to be setting in. Disney might want to put the breaks on Star Wars movies after Ep. 9 for several years if ticket sales continue to head south..
I predict Disney probably will, let Star Wars rest for several years after a third Star Wars Story movie.
To be honest, everybody, I don’t think Johnson’s proposed trilogy will move forward. (I also think the news is premature — it sounds like Johnson is only being paid by Lucasfilm to write 3 treatments for a proposed trilogy. Disney is under no contractual obligation to go forward with it if they don’t want to.)

They really need to give these movies some breathing room. Maybe they should focus on the alleged live action tv shows for awhile after Ep. 9. Last thing they want to happen is to have audiences completely sour on SW at the box office..
I wouldn’t be totally surprised to see them take a break after Solo and Episode 9 while they gear up on new Indy movies.
I really need a new Indy movie 😉
Perhaps. I can see it. If the numbers for TLJ do continue, I can see Disney stepping in. As for my personal feelings, i will admit; I’m burnt out on SWs. I enjoyed TLJ, but getting one movie after the other, it is reaching the point of over saturation for me.
It’s like Fred chicken. I love Fried Chicken and did enjoy having it. But like Fred chicken, it is too much of a good thing. Especially, for your arteries. 🙂 But I digress.
And really, the OT aesthetic I’m kind of getting sick of it.
And even beyond me not liking Han Solo as a character, I am finding I am getting less and less enjoyment out of these movies. To where, I find it a chore to watch them.
But hey, if anyone else loves these movies, awesome. More power to you all for I am glad. But as for me, maybe it is time to pull a Luke and go into exile. Or at the very least be more picky.
I don’t see myself seeing this on release, maybe a matinee or even skipping it. And just waiting until LF decides to release new SWs content, separated from the Skywalker, OT line.
Overall, enjoy yourselves everyone. And May the Force be with you, always. 🙂
I would actually love to see a movie like young Yoda where most of the characters are aliens. I could see Yoda grow up in a society similar to Ewoks or Na’vi with a tribal society and an approach to the force that is more like shamanism. Have Yoda use the force to defeat some alien creature ravaging the vllage of his tribe, have him explore some ancient Yavin 4 like temples (with murals of Snoke maybe, showing how old Snoke really was). Make standalone movies that are different so that the saga movies feel like something rare and not just more of the same.
Exactly. The nostalgia baiting is really getting annoying. I just finished listening Heir to the Empire and I was amazed at how fresh and inventive that storyline was. But also keeping in line with what made SWs, well, SWs.
For me, I’d like to see anthologies that dare to be bold and different. For example, a cool anthology film would be a film kind of like Dawn of the Jedi. The origin story of the Jedi and the Sith. Set it on Ach-too and give us insight on that tree, the caretakers and really how did Force sensitives learn to use their powers.
As well as the Sith and how they came about. Another film would be the Mandalorian Wars. The only character based anthology film I’d be willing to see is an Obi-wan movie.
Namely, because I feel like his story on tatooine is a cool one that could be told. And in terms of making it a western film with less CGI, more practical effects and smaller more personal stakes would do a lot to differentiate the brand, while also giving a sense of familiarity.
I thought TLJ was new SWs content, separated from the Skywalker, OT line?
I thought TLJ was new SWs content, separated from the Skywalker, OT line?
“‘The Last Jedi’ Flies To $844M Worldwide Box Office, $420M Overseas”
Yep, doomed.
I think it’s not the fatigue, is the bad reception and bad user reviews, although TLJ is really making a lot of money. Probably if TLJ was as catchy as TFA, probably would have made more money.
In fact, SW projects, good or bad, are the only blockbuster interesting projects to see in cinemas. So bored about bad cgi, and superheroes, and bad scripts and too much gags in actual movies.
You just know Disney is going to shoehorn Vader in at every opportunity they get.. just sayin’.
I swear to god if they do that, then I’m done. Vader was best treated like Dracula. You barely see him but the threat of Vader is more in the mystery and atmosphere he generates and less with him slicing and dicing you/ using Force Powers. Which yeah, he can do.
But really, Vader has better things to do than hunt Han Solo. It is why I liked him so much in RO; he was cleaning up someone’s SNAFU and couldn’t give a crap about politics/ the Death Star.
Of course they are. Appease the same drooling idiots that lost their minds when he showed up in R1.
Heyyy..come on some have us have been waiting a long time to see the big man himself slaughter some rebel scum. But I agree that now that we’ve had our fix he can stay in the shelves for a WHILE.
Hopefully not. Get us a new, cool imperial villain!
Before people start saying “we” didn’t ask for this, it was me. I was the one who asked for this.
#metoo
Same here. Can’t wait. I’m excited for something that tells a story on a smaller scale.
Me too… and also for a Kenoby movie.
I didn’t ask for it, but you can bet I’m excited and will enjoy it if it’s good!
Is it me or does ‘Solo’ look like a really expensive Star Wars cosplay fan-film starring fans who look nothing like their respective leading roles!
Just saying …
The impending disaster that is #Solo
Not looking enough like the old guard does not a disaster make.
Boba Fett appearance? Sure why not. Uncanny valley tarkin? God no.
That’s the same decco on the Boba minifig though – that’s an OT-era Fett, so I don’t think it means anything for Solo.
Lego are big believers and reusing old material. I wouldn’t put it past them, but the arm printing is new.
The “Thandie Newton” minifig was confirmed by the guy who leaked it to be from Infinity War
You know, I didn’t ask for this film, just as I didn’t ask for Rogue One … but, I loved Rogue One, unexpectedly and happily I really liked it, despite it filling in some blanks I wasn’t interested in seeing filled.
So, SOLO, I didn’t ask for you, but I’m hoping that you will be another pleasant surprise!
And we all asked for a Kenobi film…. and it’s nowhere to be found.
I’ve heard nothing but good things, especially now that Alden Ehrenreich’s scenes have been removed and replaced with screen legend Christopher Plummer.
LOL. You just made my day with this. Thank you.:)
😉
First look at the Falcon here… https://i.redd.it/g4uahr5tzh601.jpg
The front is wrong. Though like the colour highlights.
Thought the Falcon was confirmed to be seen in the PT as well? Edit: Its an Easter egg in RotS confirmed to be the Falcon by GL.
The Falcon’s nose looks a lot longer than in the OT. Probably for lifting cargo like some sort of a giant forklift.
Yep – and it doesn’t have the gap. The Easter Egg is RotS is confirmed by GL to be the Falcon and looks nothing like the one in that picture.
To be honest its stuff like this that is painful to see, is there no one that watches over production to make sure it all looks correct??
I’ll patiently await the RofS Special Edition to show the teeny tiny “Solo” version of the Falcon…
Most likely now not considered to be cannon as the Falcon.
I guess its to show Han’s modifications of the ship, did a lot himself….
Found this and had to share…

Why can’t I double upvote 😛
Reminds me of the unreleased kenner toy from like 1985 which would’ve had a small ship clip onto the front of the Falcon.
Interesting. To be honest I don’t mind them saying its not the Falcon in RotS, it creates more possibilities.
I…don’t know if I can love her looking like that.
yeah… We’ll see.
Hopefully she’ll get banged up a bit over the course of the film.
Yet another RMQ (I don’t think it’s Cantwell at any rate) influence there too – dish is the same, flat, pointing-up thing as from the early SW production paintings.
Falcon close-up… https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/4118d7cc84f0b17b914ebee236105b7cd894c2b0e7b478a6d4d75c9ad446650b.jpg

I thought the idea behind the front forks was to dock cargo with them.
My guess is that we will see a number of different Falcon-like freighters, each with it’s own purpose / mod.
To be honest, for me the idea of this film always felt like a huge step backwards. After TLJ it feels even more. They started something, a change with TFA and expanded it with TLJ. And now we are back (almost) where we started. I feel some people just not ready to let the old SW go.
After the problems with the production (director change) I expect nothing from this film
I like it, actually. Just because we’re moving forward doesn’t mean we can’t keep old Star Wars alive, too. Is it really a step backwards if we’re betting Episode IX a year later?
I’ve always had mixed feelings for these spin off films. I’m glad they are made to show us more from the SW universe, and I feel they are the perfect opportunity to show us something different and new. I just feel they should show us something unique, instead of characters and events we already know partially. I had no expectations from R1, but after all I really liked it. I hope this will be the case with Solo too.
I’m looking forward to hopefully an enjoyable story that treads some safe ground and perhaps gives some explosive backstory to Han’s life. Honestly prefer the possible stand-alone films at the moment, and though a bit safe at the moment, they could go onto become something special if allowed to grow.
Still not convinced on the ST, though its an enjoyable to watch and a visual treat. Simply not quite there as a trilogy for me and don’t have the desire to see IX that I had for TLJ after giving TFA the benefit of the doubt as a film resetting the franchise. Hopefully will be drawn back in once the countdown to IX starts.
Is that poster real or fake ?
Looks real to me, though the one up top looks like an edit job since it’s reversed and not the full image. The one below with the Falcon shows the full image.
How’s your russian?
http://www.licensingrussia.ru/media/presentations/d8a50d0d-755b-4e22-8b61-ed36ef84a03d.pdf
Well…that’s Joonas as Chewie for sure, and I don’t think anyone has seen that iteration of the Falcon before. OTOH, I could have sworn I’ve seen those headshots of both Ahlden and Glover somewhere else before.
The yellow shirt on Lando is one of those bright-color wardrobe pieces that Howard showed in his Instagram account, isn’t it? Maybe the poster is fake but the images seem legit
yeeah, and there was an image on one of the cam screens in one of his photos, showing the same colour arrangement.
It’s a fake. LFL says it’s nothing to do with them and don’t know where it came from.
A picture posted by Ron Howard is fake? Hm. /s
It’s looks awfully good for a fake.
They’re lying, almost definitely. The photos of Alden and Donald Glover are too good to be fake. Chances are it’s prototype toy packaging or something.
That Lego minifigure for Thandie Newton is from Avengers, not Han Solo. The guy who originally posted this leaked pics has that information. At the very least, if he’s wrong, people are convinced that it’s shuri.

Why does it not have the official logo? The name of the film is SOLO, not Han Solo.
I think that’s just marketing. It’s not uncommon to use an entire name if it it’s more familiar with audiences. Like Logan was called Logan: Wolverine in non-English speaking countries because wolverine is instantly recognisable as apposed to just Logan.
In Poland they also changed the title to Han Solo A Star Wars Story.

I dunno how I feel about Solo but I am excited to see Glover as Lando.
I’ll say my last piece of peace about TLJ, but something I think needs to be said.
I’m not going to defend the film or praise the film or trash it, but honestly I think for a demographic of audiences, there is a crucial tipping point in this movie:
If bombs dropping in space in a Star Wars movie, if this really bothers you? Maybe these movies are just not for you anymore.
Just like explosions in space and stormtroopers walking out side in space on the shield gate thing in Rogue One as if there was gravity. It’s all fantasy, and I guess people forget that.
I agree. If you’ve started overthinking these films to the point that you can’t enjoy them, maybe you should just stop torturing yourself by watching them.
That and also stop whining to us how disappointed you are with them plot holes and whatever.
It’s the poor story choices that bothered me. Certainly not the fantasy. The bombing run was one part of TLJ I did like. As for Solo, I wasn’t that interested about it until recently but I’m looking forward to it now. I’m hoping it will make up for the disappointment of TLJ.
If you don’t mind me asking, what was wrong with the bombing run? Because Y-wings dropped bombs on Star Destroyers in Rogue One and no one seemed to notice or care.
I think certain people are at the point where they are just looking for things to complain about.
Pretty sure next they’ll complain that the Caretaker’s weren’t Irish since that island legally belongs to Ireland.
I think certain people are at the point where they are just looking for things to complain about.
Pretty sure next they’ll complain that the Caretaker’s weren’t Irish since that island legally belongs to Ireland.
I don’t know why, but in the moment I just thought that the bombs and ships were falling because of a gravitatory field produced by the First Order big ship. I don’t really need an exlanation for this in a Star Wars movie anyway, but I guess if you can not handle with it I don’t think you can handle anything since the Star Wars original movie.
We accepted they can build spaceships of the size of a planet, they can create a trench in a planet around 10000 miles X 500 miles, and 300 miles deep, when solid rock in Earth is only few miles depth…
And they sucked a sun… come on! :))
Even worse, we accepted they can see on real time a ray destroying a solar system, when all we know we see the past on the sky, the nearer solar system to Earth is more than 1 year light, so if that would happen to it we would see that destruction 1 year after it really happened, TFA script not working then.
We accepted all that, as if SW was a paralel universe with different physics rules.
That bombing is so easy to explain with our physics… like a magnetic mechanism or intelligent bombs… but… we already accepted they have a different set of physics laws to the convenience of the writers each moment.
this is why its called a Space Fantasy… We suspend our rules, our physics. Unless you want to complain about this crazy Force thing they have in the movies, and ghosts and lightsabers, and just about everything that… Doesn’t. Really. Exist.
Spoiler – it’s make believe.
Exactly.
Totally agree with you.
We are defending the same 😉
No point arguing about the plausibility of the bombers scene when we have accepted all the previous stuff.
rule number one in writing fantasy is that you can have what ever rules you want in your universe. rule number two in fantasy is you have to be consistent with the rules you set up. as long as they abide by rule two the they are fine.
Aaaaaaand….it’s a fake. Called it. 😛
I saw the movie on opening day too, maybe even the same time as you and felt exactly the same. You weren’t doing this new force time ability were you? Let’s wait for IX, maybe this will help us make up our minds. Maybe JJ can put TFA and TLJ and the whole saga together in a meaningful way. Maybe we get excited for IX not because we want the story to continue (there’s nothing that needs to be done after TLJ it can go any way) but because we want to see if JJ can turn a three standalone movies into an actual trilogy.
And that’s the problem… we have 2 standalones… not 2 parts of a trilogy or a continuation of the Saga. They pretty much jettisoned any chance at world-building from the time of ROTJ to TFA, and reset the Universe to pre-ANH status. Going into Episode IX, there are no mysteries… we have Empire vs Rebels, and Good Force User vs Bad Force User. Do we need yet another film of Kylo struggling with the Light Side? He pretty much has gone completely dark now, with zero chance at redemption. I am guessing Princess Leia would have been instrumental in defeating / redeeming Kylo…. but that ain’t gonna happen now.
“Let’s wait for IX, maybe this will help us make up our minds.”
No offense intended, but I just don’t understand how anyone can approach films this way. I don’t need to know what happens next to judge if a particular film works or not. This attitude has just thrown the door wide open for LFL to shove whatever half-baked shit out the door will meet a release date, with the promise that they’ll ‘fix it’ later with subsequent movies or spin off media or whatever. It’s the height of laziness, and will be the death of this franchise. Screw a larger cinematic universe, screw a ten year release schedule – the question they all need to be constantly asking themselves is “What about THIS movie?”.
Well much of my criticism was concerning the lack of TLJ to connect with TFA. This could retroactively be changed by IX. I always rate SW saga movies in context with the other movies and in many aspects TLJ could have been a clever setup for IX or a lazy cop-out for VII. Snoke could either turn out to be a ridiculously underdeveloped villain or a genious mastermanipulator depending on IX. A good SW saga movie always has to work in context with the other movies and as such I will have to wait till IX to fully make up my mind about VIII.
Snoke isn’t getting any more development, just as the Emperor didn’t get any development in Episode VI. Both characters served their purposes and then exited stage left.
I don’t want to retype all the reasons why Snoke needs more background unlike the Emperor did so I will just copy post one of my forum posts:
I have heard the comparison with the OT time and time again but it doesn’t hold up for multiple reasons:
a) The OT was created in a vacuum. There were no preceding films or books and thus no older narratives that needed to be taken into consideration. Soke does not exist in a vacuum which means that a lot more explaining is required when introducing him as a new character. Take a look at the rule of the two for example. Before the PT there was no such rule. Now that we know of this rule we need to explain how a dark forceuser can exist outside of the Master/apprentice relationship.
b) The empire, led by the emperor was a intergalactic dictatorship in full control of the Galaxy. The empire was already where they wanted to be, in a position of ultimate power. It goes without saying that their goals would all be directed towards not losing that power. This means that the emperor was intrinsicly motivated to fight any resistance or uprising and we didn’t need an explaination for it. If I asked you what a dictatorship is most afraid of your answer would logically be “losing power”. The FO however is not in the position of complete power. Snoke wasn’t the ruler of the galaxy. His motivations can’t be explained away by deducting them based on his standing in the galaxy like we could in case of the Emperor.
c) Star Wars is known for it’s “small galaxy syndrome”. We fans have learnt over the course of decades that every important character seems to cross paths with many other important character in the galaxy. The comic relief C3-PO is, technically speaking, the son of the main villain Darth Vader. In a world where connections between characters have been established so frequently by the creator(s) of the franchise it is only natural to assume that someone like Snoke has to be of some significance to the other characters.
d) Everyone in the Galaxy seems to know Snoke. His origins and motivations seem to be obvious to anyone but the viewer. While Vader’s true indetity was unknown to most characters in the OT (and also to the viewer) the same cannot be said about Snoke.
e) Interviews, visual dictionaries and books have suggested that Snoke is indeed a carefully planned out character deliberately shrouded in mystery. Andy Serkis stated in an interview that Snoke was more powerful than both, Vader and the Emperor. Rian printed a sticker saying “your Snoke theroy sucks” as if there was some secret waiting to be uncovered. Disney understandably didn’t shut down speculation about Snoke. But they also added fuel to the theories deliberately misleading audiences about the inportance of Snoke (or lack thereof). One example for this would be Leia who can already feel Snoke’s dark influence tainting the soul of her unborn baby (Bloodline novel). You can’t put information like this in a book and then expect fans to be satisfied with no background as to why Snoke and Kylo are working together at all.

TL; DR
I’ll just say this.
1. Snoke is not a Sith, so Sith rules don’t apply.
2. It doesn’t matter HOW he rose to power, all that matters is that when thhe Girst Order returned, he was its leader. That is all that matters.
You answered two of the 5 points I made an not in a really satisfying way. I don’t care if the Sith rules apply to Snoke or not, do you really think that Palps would simply ignore someone like Snoke and would not try to win him over as an ally or take him out to avoid competition? Do you think that Mr. I-am-the-senate would simply walk up to Snoke and say: “Oh excuse me sir I was wondering, are you a Sith because there can be only two at a time so I have to kill you if you are a Sith? Hmmm, mhmm, I see… You’re just an incredibly powerful forceuser with unlimited resources? Well then, sorry to bother you sir. Enjoy yourself witnessing the rise and fall of the Empire and have a great day.”
As for it doesn’t matter HOW he got there well then how would you feel if in the next movie this extremely powerful Jedi (pardon me, “light forcuser”) shows up. Let’s name her Lukeia Hanrissian. She is only meant to push Rey’s narrative further but she’s mentioned a lot in books an movies and gets a doublepage in the Visual Dictionary. Don’t worry, she’ll die halway through the movie so you don’t have to ask yourself the question where she came from…
And again, you haven’t even touched onthe other points I brought up. I think that many people felt cheated the way Snoke was handled. Even in positive TLJ reviews the lack of Snoke’s background is constantly mentioned. So yeah, hopefully JJ is going to fix this. I doubt that we have seen/heard the last of Snoke in this trilogy. There will be some explaination in IX concerning Snoke, I guarantee you that 🙂
Snoke is a weird alien guy; Palpatine was dead before anyone knew Snoke existed.
And Luke makes it very clear that he is the last Jedi in the whole galaxy, which is why your analogy is a false equivalence. However, some random Dark side user rising up to try to take over the galaxy doesn’t NEED explanation. Snoke found the remnants of the Empire, they regrouped, and now the First Order is a thing. It may not be a very interesting explanation, but it’s a logical conclusion that doesn’t necessarily REQUIRE more background. Hope that helps.
Watch it again, trust me.
Honestly, I think the Han Solo movie is going to be GOOD-natured, family fun. I don’t think it will be life-changing awesome, but I also don’t think it will leave Star Wars fans crying out in despair ala TLJ. I look FORWARD to Han Solo and will be proud to support this creation of LAWRENCE KASDAN and RON HOWARD. No Ruin Johnson here to tarnish dreams.
Looking forward to the jam-packed PC pandering too
Yep, gotta keep dem womenz outta my Star Wars.
Give me a break.
It definitely feels, ahem, forced.
Don’t pretend like there isn’t an agenda there, friend. Did you not notice how every white male in that movie is barely noticed, broken, or evil, even Han Solo’s mindset in TFA.
It’s not diversity when you’re actively trying to diminish one social group in favour for others. It should be done but it should be done right. It’s funny how you automatically assumed that I was talking about women. 😉
Because all white men are perfect and never do anything that causes problems, make bad decisions or have less than perfect outlooks on life?
Han Solo and Luke Skywalker are both major heroes in this new trilogy, even if they do die. Plus, Lucasfilm is literally releasing a film ALL ABOUT Han Solo in 5 months. Newsflash, white guys don’t always get to be the main character now. You might have to share the spotlight a bit.
Lmao they’re both dead. You can’t excuse that. There isn’t a problem in including females in SW, but when you pull a complete 180 on the fan-base, expect there to be some backlash. Everybody knows Kathleen Kennedy is a feminist. She’s only making SW more diverse because it means a larger audience which means more money.
Literally my only problem with Disney SW is the lack of character development in Rey. Jyn was an awesome character. But Rey? No, she gets everything without earning it. And she never fails. Apparently she can do anything. If you think that’s logical storytelling then you’ve got bigger concerns than enjoying a Star Wars movie.
George Lucas was too.
“She’s only making SW more diverse because it means a larger audience which means more money.”
Holy shit… a film executive trying to make more money by including a diverse cast so that the films can reach more people? What?!?!?! This is cra— wait. Oh, yeah..that’s her f’n job to GROW the brand for everyone not just some niche group of fans. Basically you’re saying she’s a competent executive but chastising her for it.
Are you done? So competence comprises of not only making money but also alienating what was effectively half the Star Wars audience? Hm yes very competent!
I don’t care about diversity being in films, it’s a good thing. But when you’re doing it the wrong way, that’s not a good thing. Every white male in the Disney SW films has a bad ending or a sad story. And they’re barely seen. Jesus this isn’t a racial issue, this is about equality. Nobody seems to understand that it’s about making a fair environment and not about putting a different group in the spotlight. That’s just dumb, and it won’t work in the long term. That’s how we got to this mess in the first place.
But I digress. I still love and enjoy these SW movies.
She’s not alienating white males dude, you’re just a sexist prick. When you learn to accept that things will be much better off for you.
You got me. I’m a sexist prick. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/bf237a80095301fe83dbb6119d2eeb8078c96f01dd5cbf3e79218f898c953e0a.gif

I don’t think Kathleen Kennedy cares about what a bunch of racists and immature manboys think of her putting more women and minorities in the films. What I would like you to explain is why you think such a thing is problematic? What gives white males the exclusive god-given right to dominate SW films that any deviation from that formula is “feminist activism” and “political correctness.” Who the hell ordained that they are the only people who can be in these movies, and why does the change offend you so much?
“The Force is Female”
A campaign Kathleen endorsed awhile back which is beyond dumb. The Forcd is not gender specific, how about “the force is people”. It’s great that they’re trying to make a difference but not when it alienates another social group in the process. Ya know, the majority of people who watched SW for the past 40 years (ahem, males). I want SW to be more inclusive but the way they’re going about it is half-arsed. Equlity not favouritism. Because I never noticed it til some crazy pointed it out. But every white male gets shafted somehow. LFL should be inclusive of everybody to a fair amount and maybe keep showing that white males can be heroes too.
It’s not even really that problematic, but with everything happening in the world, and seeing it on Twitter, there seems to be a real witch hunt in the works to remove white males from the equation. But hey, I guess that makes me the bad guy.
So when anything is different from “white male” that means there is an agenda?
Do you take every portrayal of white men onscreen as a personal indictment of the race?
Should black people have felt they were being told they were all turncoats when Lando betrayed Han?
Or maybe you are just a little too easily triggered?
Let the past die. Kill it… if you have to. That’s the only way to become what you were meant to be.
I kinda wish Disney/Lucasfilm would actually do what Kylo said.
You can only mimic the Original Trilogy so many times before it gets old. No, I don’t think TLJ was a total remake, but I felt it should have pushed Star Wars into territory more unfamiliar instead of playing it safe (examples: Luke about to go dark and kill his nephew…. but then getting a heart at the last second. Or anakin lightsaber breaking…. but wait, She’s going to fix it…)
No your inclination is pretty accurate. They played it really safe, and called it bold and different by blaming the OT characters for the fact the entire thing failed the first time. Those legends you love so much, Yea they were epic screw ups. But we found a New new hope who is now the Last Last Jedi.
The PT characters are to blame for what happens in the OT.
Come on dude…learn Star Wars.

I believe JJ has the best ingredients to make a good movie, very solid characters. TLJ has worked well for many of them, Rose, Poe, Rey, Kylo… and may be Hux is not so solid.
In ESB we didn´t know yet about Death Star 2, so we should expect something similar that moves the story.
I hope OW Kenobi will be in Ep. IX.
Hurray for safe, familiar Star Wars comfort food after nasty Rian Johnson’s attempt to evolve the franchise and actually give us something new. Just keep shoveling the same stuff over and over again.
Evolve the franchise? Hmm! 40 years ago in 1977 a small band of rebels were the only thing willing to face down an empire full of white armored storm troopers. A new hope would rise from a sandy world and learn to be The Last Jedi!
40 years later: a small band of rebels must face down an empire full of white armored storm troopers and a New New hope from a sandy world will rise a spark hope that the war can be won—but for real this time. The Last Last Jedi is the New New Hope. And maybe the second time Chewie gets a medal.
But you’re right, thank god they didn’t regress back to telling the same old story and Star Wars has evolved. I mean the Sidious died in the middle movie. That’s bold!
This is why I’m still not sold on the ST, despite TLJ being more creative, its still selling the OT storyline.
They should of been more radical with the Saga from the start of TFA.
The stand alone films are perfect for fan-boys and to grow into something else and fresh as time goes on.
i don’t think the decision was made with fanboys in mind, it was made so that the general audience who knows only stormtroopers, xwings, darth vader and han solo could be sold to.

Yep – its basically the OT for a new generation in many ways. Still could of used those basic elements you mention though with a little more imagination. Maybe R1 should of come first, fulfil the nostalgia and then start a fresh new trilogy for the Saga. No point looking backwards though, got to keep moving forward.
So you’re trying to make a case that this is a rehash with broad similarities while also complaining that they changed too much stuff about the characters? Well what is it, then? Is it too similar or is it too different, because you seem to be completely contradicting yourself.
Then you missed the point.
This is the attitude that would make disney play it safe lol
Bring on the Fett, Jaba, Lando and Wedge A Star Wars story movies.. Cuz nostalgia.
Oh yea, blame others for them playing it safe. Because right now they are really telling radical new stories. Like in TLJ when the Empire isn’t very powerful and the Rebels were in need of a new spark of hope. And a nobody from a desolate sand planet turned out to be that hope. Now the empire is shaking in its boots.
Yes, good thing they didn’t tell a similar story in Ep 7 – 8 that we seen in 4-6. Because I would of lost it if a Jedi masters disappeared into thin air, that’d be revolutionary.
I disagree. This will likely be a large turd.
Dry your eyes out Kent. Wipe away those fanboy tears.
Every person who throws that term around derogatory like this is compensating for being bullied. Only a lame would come to a Starwars Fan Boy site and try to elevate themselves above the fanboy culture. Go get some sleep pal, nothing special about you because you liked the movie. It’s not some radical stance. The nationalist who followed Trump fell in line too. Clap, pad yourself on the back, and poor a shot. You’ve done so well!
“Fanboy”. Most offensive noun in the galaxy.
Only a lame would come to a Starwars fan site and wish to see a movie burn simply because it didn’t fit their head cannon dear Timothy.
The fans’ collective “head cannon” about Luke was more valuable than Ruin Johnson’s version of him. Just b/c Ruin gets the director chair does not make his opinion of Luke more valuable, just more amplified.

No. It makes his opinion of Luke cannon.
Then you don’t know what a fanboy is.
You underestimate the powerful of failed leadership!
This shameless money grab is gonna blow up all in Disney’s face.
I think they must be near recovering all the investment buying LF already.
They recovered that a long time ago. But business like Disney don’t work on what what he made, it’s what we should have made.
Star Wars re-invented this kind of business in the 80s when they did even better than Disney before.
It is what it is since the begining.
I’m fine with more Star Wars. TLJ was a step in the right direction. Don’t understand the hate for Luke’s character. It made sense.
Yea, it makes a whole lot of sense for a Jedi to spend 30 years collecting Jedi books to not even read them and quit. Not even Mark understood that. It also made sense for a guy whose like, Jedi need to die, to be wearing his Jedi robe when nobody Rey whose been to the first Jedi temple showed up with his father’s, his, and his nephews saber—the one no one even knows where it came back from.
Yes, made a lot of sense. Luke, too weak to Astral Project. Leia, blow me up and shoot me in space, it’s cool, I’ll be walking 20 minutes later.
What’s so hard to understand about the failure of the Jedi Academy having an effect on Luke’s outlook on the Jedi? Did you think he would just forget about it and move on?
Lucas thought the same thing in ’77
Here is my take on TLJ (If anyone cares at this point). For the record, I saw it once opening weekend and didn’t like it. I saw TFA 4 times in the theater as it felt just like the OT movies as it had the same ‘spirit.’
Have I given up on TLJ? No, I’m waiting for Bluray in the spring and I think I will look at the movie differently on multiple viewings in my house. I actually think I’ll like it more and sort of forgive the flaws just as I did with the PT.
I guess my point is that TLJ is not the type of SW movie I want to see again and again in the theater cause it doesn’t have the resonate with me like TFA and the OT. But just like the PT, when I watch TLJ at home I can appreciate it in the context of the bigger story.
Not every SW movie will be great and everyone has their favorites. But it’s all part of a bigger story and that’s what makes the SW Saga movies great in that context. So I can plop in ESB or TFA and enjoy those movies cause they resonate with me. Then I can plop in ROTS or TLJ and enjoy as part of the 9 story narrative Lucas started telling.
I hope that makes sense?
I can understand that. When I saw it on opening day, I was very torn. Like, extremely torn, unsure, divided. At the time, I could see only a few good scenes in it, and overall a quite bad plot. It all felt too simplicistic (the infinite chase), a not-so-great, but with some very good shocks. (SPOILERS) Snoke’s death I liked, but I regretted not knowing much about him. Luke’s demise, I would have loved it to be a lightsaber duel. I absolutely loved seeing Yoda. The Canto Bight part seemed very stupid. I was really torn the night after first viewing.
On second viewing, I absolutely loved it. Much of the plot points I didn’t like the first time were clearer, I could notice that the two storylines have different chronological lenght (like in dunkirk where you jump back and forth between three storylines of which one takes an hour, the other a day, the third several days; here you have a storyline that lasts half a day vs. the Luke-Rey storyline which takes several days and whilst in the film it starts after a bit its beginning takes place before the other storyline), and many other things. I noticed also TLJ being much more visually stunning than many other Star Wars films. Luke vs Kylo had very TOR vibes to me aswell, and is among my favourite showdowns. Not to mention the Williams’ score, which certainly surpasses TFA. I ultimately enjoyed much TLJ on second view.
Concluding, I think that, while TFA makes the viewer be very excited when it ends, on first view, TLJ is a film that requires multiple views to be appreciated. I noticed that being acommon thing in Johnson’s works (I didn’t like Looper as much on first viewing as on the second time).
I have a good feeling about this.
Can they actually managed to tarnish this character anymore. Bad father, bad husband, heroic acts were undone by both! Will we learn what in God’s name made the galaxy think the storm trooper empire wannabe ammassing super weapons was not a threat.
While they’re at it, explain why if Luke was done with the Jedi he was wearing his Jedi robe when nobody Rey showed up to get trained in nothing.
Hell, at least they wouldn’t manage to crap on the OT characters.
Han Solo: because up to this point we didn’t think making sense mattered.

Han Solo wasn’t a hero before he got involved with the Rebellion. He was a selfish prick. And are we really going to worry about Luke’s clothes in one scene? How nit picky. Maybe his other clothes were in the wash.
Regarding Luke – the TLJ Visual Dictionary seems to insinuate that he was wearing the Jedi garb to complete his last rite as a Jedi. Presumably, he was going to literally carry out his intention of ending the Jedi by committing suicide (or was at least contemplating it). It isn’t stated explicitly, but that’s what I gathered from the entry. It seems that Rey could not have arrived at a better moment. This answer won’t ease your angst over how Luke was used, I’m sure, but it at least makes sense of why he was wearing the Jedi attire.
I just read that in my copy that arrived yesterday! (also TFA VD, which I had to read first yesterday evening)
Yea that line had me confused, I like your take on it. Pretty dramatic though. Maybe not suicide, but like a last walk as a Jedi lol, before he decides he’s just gonna chill in his hut forever as a hermit. “FUCK THE JEDI ORDER, LIKE FOR REALS THIS TIME!” Then because of the events of TFA and TLJ, by the end of TLJ he decides to don it again one last time for his truly last act as a Jedi (with renewed hope for a new Jedi Order), sacrificing himself to buy the Resistance time. I like it!
Btw, I encourage everyone to read the Visual Dictionaries and Art Of books from the last two movies. Some things broadened my perspective and though I wasn’t a fan of TLJ at first, this among other things has made me appreciate it more.
“The art looks really great and too good to be fan made”
———————————-
I have to disagree ;P In a time where fast and bad photoshop is everywhere (books, posters, magazines), in fan made illustrations is where we find real artistic, personal and excellent proposals and works, in my opinion. Although all are not bad, official ones seem to have no personality and history.
Would love to see a great come back of old artistic posters. There are real artists out there.
I agree with you on the art style, but I think he was mainly just talking about the fact that it just has too much going for it to be a fake. For ex. – the characters are seamless. There are some good photoshop artists out there, but this kind of quality is rare from a photoshop poster. In addition to that, the costumes are unique yet consistent with the leaks we have seen already, and the idea of making the Falcon look different also stands out as most fakes would have probably just used the classic look for the Falcon instead of a new design. Anyways, I think by “too good”, that was what he was getting at instead of insinuating that a fan artist could not accomplish something that good or better in terms of artistic quality.

You’re absolutely right 😉
I think this is the proposed key art that will go in the upper-right corner of boxes and packages for toys. Somehow this design leaked. Disney is PO’ed and trying to claim it isn’t “official” — well, technically, maybe it’s not official because they haven’t yet signed off on it, or did not approve of this version.
The falcon dish ! The front of the ship!! Gotta need time to get used to this design, but I like the idea that it’s Han who makes the Falcon cooler.
Ye gods I hope the toy roll out doesn’t suck as hard as the last 3 movies. I’m not a huge collector but I like to grab a few things and a few things were all I could find in the last 3 years of Star Wars movies. After waiting decades for a new Luke figure they give us a statue with no light saber. Thank God for Rey is all I can say, she is one of the things keeping me interested.
What’s the situation with the toys these days? I feel like compared to the OT and even the PT they are absolutely shite!!
I live in Australia and I have barely seen any TLJ toys at all anywhere.. looking online and there really hasn’t been much produced, basically no ships for example for TLJ. What’s that all about??
Bring back the Action Fleet!!!
I dunno man. You couldn’t even buy a Snoke without getting some big $100 Playset. Was weird. The stores here are still full of Finn etc. peg warmers from TFA. None of it looked very interesting besides Rey, Rey is Bea.
I’ve seen TLJ 3 times now… pre-booked tickets, no refunds. Like Jenno10388 I still don’t really know what to feel about it. I swing from absolute hate to lukewarm appreciation. I honestly can’t fathom the critical adoration it is getting. And I am someone who defended Rian Johnson pre-release vehemently and loved all his prior work. In the end, it’s the lack of originality and lack of a strong storyline and character journey that is really depressing.
As for Solo… well I was very sceptical from the outset. So much will hinge on accepting Ehrenreich as Han. That is quite a momentous and nigh-impossible task.

The mouse has a lot of shill pay-off money.

So no actual evidence, then? You’re accusing reviewers of giving good reviews for money with literally no evidence to back up your ridiculous claims? This is why no one takes you seriously.

“I honestly can’t fathom the critical adoration it is getting.”
A bunch of people liked it. That’s how.
I say this without snark, sarcasm, belittlement, or any negative implications – it is completely ok to NOT like a Star Wars movie. If you don’t like it, you don’t have to. You don’t have to be guilted into liking it because of nostalgia or other fans telling you to love it or out of guilt that you “should” like it because – after all – it is “Star Wars.” I know this goes without saying for the Prequel Trilogy, but the situation seems to be a bit different for this new Sequel Trilogy (I think mostly because the classic characters like Luke, Han, and Leia are in it) – and, possibly, this young “Han Solo” movie (time will tell). You can’t force yourself to love something that you don’t – a lesson so true in so many areas of life other than film….
But on the flip side of that – I don’t think it’s cool to try and convince others to hate a Star Wars movie just because you do. I’m not accusing you of doing that, I’m just mentioning that for argument’s sake. Movies are art, and art is subjective. What one person sees as beautiful, another person sees as vile. Doesn’t mean either is right or wrong – it’s just the reality of subjectivity.
Now – all that being said – I WILL guilt you into loving “Return of the Jedi,” because I think it gets WAY more crap than it deserves….
At this point, I’m done with Saga entries and anything related to the OT…especially after TLJ.
Give us something new(non Saga related in any way), from way in the past. I still would like to see them do the Bane trilogy as long as it is done exactly as the books!

Us? You are funny.
ok, me…
Bubbye.
I didn’t say I was leaving…
Hey now, the First Order is not just the Galactic Empire. They are very distinct entities. For example, they have a different name. Now consume this new product!
That was funny. Good one!
So, you want something new, but you want it to be exactly like the books you’ve already read? Ooooo-kaaaay…
lol, yeah well….Bane would be very different.
Wait, when does this movie take place? Because the Falcon looks awfully new…
It takes place over the course of a few years I believe, but it starts with Han fairly young (19-early 20s). So the Falcon would be in his possession for up to 15-ish years by the time of ANH, I’d assume.
I’m so hoping for this not to be a train wreck.
We’ll see, but I’m not getting my hopes up.
I don’t know, just like with TLJ I have had a bad feeling about this for a while now.
Why does it look like the front middle section of the Falcon is filled in? I don’t think it was like this in ROTS, and it certainly wasn’t like this in ANH or later.
Star Wars Explained on YouTube did a video about that…the Corillean Ships were used for hailing freight. The middle part slid back to allow the ship to clamp onto floating freight.
It looks like the key art that will go on the upper-right corner of boxes/packaging for toys. (Therefore, imagine that the upper-left corner will be the Star Wars logo in orange-to-yellow gradient, with maybe “Han Solo” nestled between the two words. Yes, this is not the actual title of the movie, but they may want to make a more clear distinction what the packaged toy is in reference to.)
I’m looking forward to… having something else to think about. Hopefully it’s good.
“Something else to think about…”
Other than Porgs? (judging by your avatar picture)
lol… I changed this before TLJ came out. Never got around to changing it. Actually I don’t think I can. Facebook challenged my identity and they want a formal ID to get back in. I’m not bothering to do it. That was a while ago. They still let me post as this account. Weird. I could create another account… but I’m actually a little miffed at Facebook for the whole thing.
Oh hey maybe I can through discus! Cool.

Don’t go to the trouble. No one is going to care about your Porg picture – even if you didn’t like the movie (I was just giving you shit). For the most part, I actually liked the movie. Not my favorite of the saga, but certainly not the worst.
If it will make you feel better, I’ll try to dig up an Ewok picture and put it up as my avatar. Then we can both be ridiculed by self-righteous Star Wars fans together!
I am looking forward to seeing the movie but I still “Have a baaaad feeling about this!”
Hope I am wrong though! 🙂
