Ashley Eckstein Talks Ahsoka and Her Fate

There are many questions a Star Wars fan has asked themselves over the past 4 years since Disney bought Lucasfilm. Is Supreme Leader Snoke Mace Windu? Is Rey the child of the descendants of Obi-Wan, Boba Fett, and Sheev Palpatine(my personal theory)? And of course, WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO AHSOKA (here’s one very likely scenario)! Season three of Rebels made next to no mention of her and her fate is still up in the air.

Thanks to Yahoo, we have a small hint of what’s to come when they interviewed Ashley Eckstein about all things Ahsoka as well as her thoughts on Luke’s last line in The Last Jedi trailer. She was obviously very excited about how fans have reacted to Ahsoka now as opposed when she was introduced almost 10 years ago saying,

“Ahsoka started out as this brand new character that, at first, I thought was going to be the next Jar Jar. But she’s become such a beloved character by everyone — boys, girls, men women — I play a small part in the team that brings Ahsoka to life.”

I have to admit, I really didn’t like her when The Clone Wars first aired. She just felt like all the problems people had with Anakin in the prequels to the nth degree. Luckily Filoni and George fixed that, in what is one of the best writing jobs Lucasfilm has ever done. Taking a character we all found annoying and making her this beloved character.

She has become so beloved that some fans have thrown out the idea of a standalone Ahsoka movie, with Eckstein playing Ahsoka which made her very excited.

“I would love an Ahsoka movie, not only as the voice of Ahsoka, but just as an Ahsoka fan….It’s so exciting that we’re even talking about that, that it’s even a possibility to have a standalone film or other media with Ahsoka in it.”

I reciprocate everything that Ashley is saying. If you had told me 10 years ago that fans would be clamoring for an Ahsoka movie, I would have laughed at you and something like “It’s over Ahsoka, I have the high ground.” which Ahsoka probably would responded with a “you underestimate my fandom”.

What I really enjoyed about the interview was her insights on The Last Jedi trailer and where Luke was mentally in the trailer and she compared him to Ahsoka a little bit.

“Luke’s line in the trailer actually gave me chills because, you know, Ahsoka very famously said, ‘I am no Jedi,’ …The reason Ahsoka is still alive is because she walked away from the Jedi Order. Clearly there’s something there with The Last Jedi…. It’s not what it once was, apparently.”

I really enjoy hearing people who are involved with the universe who try to use the experiences of their character and compare to what Luke is going through and I think there’s some truth to what she’s saying. Finally she gave a final thought on who Ahsoka is and if we will see her again.

“I want to know more about Ahsoka’s future as this kind of neutral character,” Her lightsabers are white because she’s neutral. She’s not on the Dark Side, she’s not a Jedi. She’s not even a full-blown Rebel. What is she doing? Where is she? All I can say is, you’ll see Ahsoka again.”

There you have it! Ahsoka is Snoke confirmed! We certainly haven’t seen the last of Snips and seeing where her story goes is incredibly exciting.

May the Force be with you!

please just let her stay dead. She was a great character but if shes alive that would be a little too much even if they can make a great story. There are many other stories they can be making.

I didn’t mean that its confirmed shes dead I meant to say that they should move away from Ahsoka and leave her now and move on to other character and Stories. Just like they did with Darth Maul.

Well Ahsoka is very closely linked with Rebels, so I think her fate should be shone there.

They definitely shouldn’t try and bring her back, imo…she should have died by vaders hand.

I agree. but they didn’t show her dying by Vader’s hand, so if they want her to die that way, they need to bring Vader back on the show and just do it.

Yeah so much for Filoni’s comments of if Ashoka ever faced Vader she wouldn’t survive.

Did he say that? Or just that he wouldn’t LET her survive? Because a temple exploding seems like kind of a big thing.

While Ahsoka is clearly connected to the Wolf (+ much evidence points towards her being the Wolf). I truly hope she is simply alive and in her natural form.
I suspect she may take the place of the Bendu ( the owl is assosicated with him on attallon; perhaps he was training her on Malachor all this time through the owl).
That would be a natural way to remove her from the Rebellion while keeping her alive. Perhaps The Bendu (as a title) is an important part of the force in the universe.

    +

If Luke and Rey are trying to find balance, it would be a great way to bring Ahsoka into the films. She would be The Bendu entitiy. To us we would know her complex history, but to new fans she would only be The Bendu.

Except they showed how the Bendu being in the middle was wrong.

When? There was no right or wrong when it came to the Bendu all he served was the force.
Futhermore, if being in the middle is wrong, then why is this going to be explored in the Last Jedi?

Um, when he refused to take sides. Standing by idly when others are in peril and you have the power to help them is the same as hurting them yourself. That was clearly shown in Rebels finale.
We don’t know for sure that is what is being explored and even if it is, then they will also show the middle is not the right way.

No, getting rid of people (all people) who are disturbing your home is douchey, but not overtly darksided. He was indifferent. That’s the ultimate form of being “in the middle”.

Ahsoka has really come a long way ever since she debuted in The Clone Wars; her character development, from TCW all the way up to Rebels, was great.

I, for one, can’t wait to see Ahsoka again in whatever form she’s in once Season four begins in the fall; Ashley’s thoughts on TLJ is really interesting. ^_^

I do not think she’s dead; I don’t think it ever really looked like it. She descended into that Sith temple on Malachor, to what end, we’ll find out soon, I hope. She has become one of my favorite SW characters of all time, and I grew up with the Classic Trilogy. I would LOVE to see her show up in some fashion in the saga films, and I would love to see her story explored elsewhere as well.
Shoot, maybe the next animated series will reveal what happened to her, with Luke seeking her out (were the series to take place in the post-ROTJ era, mind).

In any event, I cannot wait to read and see more about her.

I just hope we’re getting an ongoing Ahsoka comic and/or film reference at some point. The unfinished tales and the hints in the ‘Ahsoka’ book should really be given a proper visual presentation.

Im really suprised they havent announced an Ahsoka comic yet (every character seems to be getting a 5 issue comic series; which I like).
They could easily adapt some of the unused clone wars arcs into her story.
Or have her on a mission between her Novel and Rebels.

They could just be waiting for Rebels Season 4 to make full use of the hype train, as they did for her book and for the latest Maul comic.

Yeah, a 4 or 5 issue comic series could easily be used to adapt one of her unfinished Clone Wars arcs. They could even make it an ongoing series and adapt them all (Ahsoka’s Walkabout + Return to the Jedi + The Siege of Mandalore). The fact that they haven’t already done that makes me think that they must have bigger plans in store.

I truely think there are only 5 “arcs” that need to be animated to truly complete the clone wars
            -Son of Dathomir
            -Dark Disciple
            -Ahsokas Walk about
-Retrun to the jedi/sith temple arc
            -Seige of Mandalore.
This effectvely deals with the fates of the 4 main characters intorcuded in the clone wars. We see Ventresses end. and how Maul ahsoka and rex end up in the Mandalore.
But I agree the actual lack of clone wars material for the untold stories (weve only had Dark Disciple and Son of Dathomir) truly make me think they are planning to use this.material.
They could easily adapt the rest of thr series into comics, but they arent.

I was 50/50 on the character during TCW, till it got real during the ending and seeing the growth, and I was cheering when she came back in Rebels, and just not based solely on Nostalgia, but instead the connective tissue to what came before, the development of the character, the Padawan of Darth Vader. IMO Ahsoka is an iconic Star Wars character now.. and as fans, I think we should be excited they were able to pull THAT off with this story they told, and just builds on the anticipation of what comes next, and the direction they can take whether it be by animation or bringing these characters on the big screen, or expanding them through different avenues

to wrap it up, this might be the last we ever see/hear of Ahsoka in Star Wars, and I hope her pay off is well worth it, cause the character deserves it aswell as Dave Filoni

Ashoka will appear in Force of Destiny, so I think that is what is being referred to when Ashley says we will see more of the character. I do think that she is dead, or has been transfigured into this wolf bend character.

While I would love it. The Seige of Mandalore is just too complicated to make a solo film of.
          You would have to explain to general audiences;
(a)How Darth Maul is alive + how he got into the position of running mandalore.
          (b) Who Ahsoka is (you can’t get around it by not mentioning her relationship with anakin as they will have to show the scene were he gives her her lightsabers +501st)

It think we are going to get the story eventually. likely as an animated tv film (compressing the 4 episode arc -assuming it is 4 epsidoes- into one story).
They keep metnioning it in rebels + they could have easily explored it in the Ahsoka novel, but chose to have small passages of it instead.

My level of knowledge on Ahsoka has grown this past year, So what is her standings at the end of her book? Does it take place between a rebels season or is it between rebels and clone wars? We definitely need more from her she has become a force to be reckoned with and a powerful ally to the current list of powerful ladies in SWU

If Star Wars The Old Republic is canon then shouldn’t Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 be canon, since they took a thousand years or more in the past?
