I agree with the council here- give Hayden another shot. I think the character of Anakin is so critical to Star Wars overall that his force spirit should appear. Plus Ryan Johnson could direct the hell out of it and retroactively add a little nuance to anakin. Rogue one proved that prequel elements when done correctly can be good in Star Wars. Plus if Rey turns out to be a skywalker (which Is dubious) then I definately want a money shot of all three skywalker generations standing together.

    • February 3, 2017 at 12:43 pm

Agreed. Some are so pathologically anti-prequel that even if Hayden appeared and acted BRILLIANTLY as Anakin’s force-ghost in the sequel trilogy, they still couldn’t take it just because he reminds them that the prequels even exist, and they want them to be forgotten and erased from canon.

      Seriously, folks. Get over it.

    • February 3, 2017 at 10:20 pm

Exactly – get him in and give it a go. If they feel it doesn’t work don’t put it in the film.

    • February 4, 2017 at 5:57 pm

      Ew no, please no.

  • February 3, 2017 at 2:08 pm

I wish prequeltards would stop advocating for egregious elements of the prequels(about 90%) to be shoehorned into these new movies. Those movies were garbage from start to finish and you liked them, please just get over that unsavory fact. Look you lot obviously have really low standards but please stop trying to inflict those low standards on the rest of us just to make yourselves feel better. Let the low go, strive for high.

    • February 3, 2017 at 6:24 pm

Well, I guess we can add “prequeltards” up there with “libtards” and “butthurt” as the most annoying trendy, viral words that nobody will use a year from now.

I’m definitely not the world’s biggest Prequel fan, but you can’t really categorically proclaim that those that like them have “low standards”. You also have no basis in claiming that those who wish to see the Prequel era have some sort of recognized presence in current Star Wars material are doing so to make themselves “feel better”. That’s just cheap and easy reasoning that nobody with half a brain respects. Come on man, be an adult. Talk like an adult.

The Prequels exist and they’re part of the Star Wars canon. There’s very little you can do about that. And we’ve already seen that Lucasfilm is not interested in ignoring or wiping that era from current storytelling projects. Rebels is rife with elements from the Prequel era. A few things showed up in Rogue One. There are a couple small touchstones in The Force Awakens. In fact, I’d say that they’re doing a really nice job of honoring the Prequels while not making them the forefront any of their current projects.

Part of this, however, is practical. Lucasfilm spent 15 years telling stories from the Prequel era and they’re shifting their focus for a bit. Down the road, I’m sure we’ll see other projects that return us to this era. If that stuff has the same level of quality as the Clone Wars animated series, I’m all in. And no doubt you’ll be ponying up some new ways to call people who disagree with you, “retards”.

      • February 3, 2017 at 10:53 pm

Just BS again, the usual “the Prequels exist, accept it” straw man. Come on BS let the low go, strive for the high.

        • February 3, 2017 at 11:30 pm

A definition of “straw man” from

“Substituting a person’s actual position or argument with a distorted, exaggerated, or misrepresented version of the position of the argument.”

I directly addressed your post and specific things you said. So, yeah, no straw man there. Nice try, but a fail nonetheless.

          • February 4, 2017 at 2:33 pm

You didn’t directly address my post, you brought up the fact that the PT exists and it’s canon, none of which I disputed in my original post(which I see has been deleted by more of your self satisfied ilk). So you see BS it’s you who failed here. Like a lot of Prequel fans you’re nowhere near as smart as you think you are. If you had even an ounce of self awareness you might be embarrassed.

          • February 4, 2017 at 3:34 pm

Yeah, I did. You stated that Prequel fans have “low standards”. I addressed that. Directly. You also mentioned that Prequel fans wish to see that era reflected in current storylines as needing to “feel better”. I also addressed that. Again, directly. So, I’m not really sure what you read.

You probably deleted your own post in an effort to save face. Good luck with that.

          • February 7, 2017 at 3:45 am

More baseless accusations. More deflection/dishonesty – I was referring specifically to your “it’s canon” comment, as you well know.

      • February 3, 2017 at 11:24 pm

        He’s a troll

        • February 3, 2017 at 11:32 pm

Yeah, no kidding. I welcome dissenting and contrary opinions. It makes for great debate and discussion. But it’s just not the same when it comes out sounding like the drunken rant of a barely literate high school dropout.

          • February 4, 2017 at 2:53 pm

God, you’re so arrogant, so smug and so self absorbed BS. It’s hilarious, people like you always try to occupy the high moral ground but lack the wit to mask their own tendency to resort to name calling and baseless slurs.

          • February 4, 2017 at 3:29 pm

“With that last sentence, you’re guilty of exactly what you accused me of in your first response.”

I wasn’t talking about you. I was talking about forum trolls. Unless, of course…

          • February 7, 2017 at 3:58 am

More waffle and BS from BS, as is the norm with you PT fanboys, I purposely lay into these movies and their fans because I’m sick of the fact that there’s never any coherent argument in defense of these movies. All it ever is with you guys is “don’t criticize these movies because we like them”

          • February 7, 2017 at 2:25 pm

“I purposely lay into these movies and their fans because I’m sick of the fact that there’s never any coherent argument in defense of these movies.”

Whoo boy, then you might want to consider getting a hobby. I heard stamp collecting is experiencing a revival. Maybe a pet? Ferrets are nice. So are goldfish. It’s ironic that you point out that folks that enjoy the Prequels don’t seem to have any “coherent” reasons for doing so. I suggest you take a look back at your original post (well, you deleted it, so forget that). You might be more like Prequel fans than you think.

I’ve seen some pretty decent, and harsh, criticisms of the Prequels. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of the movies and I think elements of them downright stink, but if I’m not a fan of those movies, I’m even a lesser fan of Internet trolls like you. Grow up.

Okay, someone stick a fork in this fool. He’s roasted, and he’s done.

          • February 7, 2017 at 6:02 pm

He said to me he’s not trying to bait….lol what a troll.

          • February 8, 2017 at 4:19 am

And then he admits that’s what he’s doing. What a clown.

          • February 10, 2017 at 5:11 pm

Ohho – so witty, you really burned me there BS. I didn’t delete my original post, if you had any knowledge on how these things work you would clearly see the site mods deleted it. Just another baseless accusation – something you criticize others of doing – now that’s ironic dummy. What a complete embarrassment you’ve made of yourself on this thread.

Nor did I ever mention anything about people’s enjoyment of the Prequels, I don’t give a sh*t if people like them. I said coherent argument as to why they aren’t bad movies – still waiting. Comprehension clearly isn’t one of your strong points either BS. And you’re last sentence just further proves that I was right when I said you were arrogant and smug and a prime twit to boot. Come on, I can’t wait for your next idiot reply, you gonna call me a troll again?

          • February 10, 2017 at 7:12 pm

“…you gonna call me a troll again?”

    • February 3, 2017 at 10:18 pm

I imagine a lot of those prequetards you so elegantly call them were kids themselves when they watched them. Don’t be a dick

      • February 3, 2017 at 10:44 pm

        They’re not kids now.

        • February 3, 2017 at 11:17 pm

I roll my eyes in disbelief – ever heard of nostalgia?

          • February 4, 2017 at 2:18 pm

Nostalgia is no excuse or argument, come on Steven is that the best you can do? Nostalgia – really?

          • February 4, 2017 at 5:16 pm

Is that the best you can do in an attempt to bait someone troll?

You must be at home with your parents right, a true master-baiter, living a sad life by trying to get people to respond. Butthurt much?

          • February 7, 2017 at 3:39 am

Not trying to bait you Steven, just looking for something that even resembles an argument or defense of the PT beyond “it’s canon” or “I like them, so shut up” Oh and your last sentence by the way – PATHETIC.

          • February 7, 2017 at 5:58 pm

Coming from someone that labels a group of people Prequelturds……..your a joke and have the affront to call me pathetic. You’re OT comment doesn’t even come close wanting to have a debate, but instead is designed to bait. TROLL

          • February 10, 2017 at 5:26 pm

Ah we could go on like this forever Steven, you’ll never come up with a defense for the PT you’ll just keep throwing hysterical hissy fits. You seem to be getting a bit overwhelmed by all of this, maybe you should go shoe shopping, get your hair done, have a girls night out. You deserve it.

          • February 10, 2017 at 7:21 pm

I’ve not defended them, only the people you’ve labelled with a childish behaviour. Try reading properly and get a life Troll.

          • February 10, 2017 at 5:16 pm

It’s like talking to a ten year old.

          • February 10, 2017 at 7:22 pm

Says the man, oops I mean man child, that labels people Prequelturds……pathetic troll.

Can you really call anakin skywalker, who by Lucas’ design is the main character of all Star Wars and the sole obsession of the sequel trilogies main villain as “an egregious element of the prequels”? This is just my option but I think anakin apearing as a force ghost in 8 (which he already did in episode 6) would feel about as “shoehorned” as having original trilogy character like leia or Luke appear. They are key characters with active effects on the galaxy. You don’t NEED him to appear, but if he doesn’t we need a bit of clarity on how force ghosts work.

  • February 4, 2017 at 7:00 am

Love listening to these guys, but they really need to give it a rest with the whole “Kylo Ren is irredeemable because he killed Han Solo” bit.

I get it, you guys loved Han Solo.

Don’t let that be the reason to stop yourselves from seeing where the story could potentially go. Yes; the idea of Ben turning back to the light has indeed been done before, but if it can be done right, then let it be so.

We all love our characters, but I’m not going to rule out what they can potentially do for the sake of the story, simply because they axed off a character I enjoyed.

    • February 4, 2017 at 2:40 pm

They have a point though. Anakin’s murders were nowhere near as bad since those kids were basically extras and Obi-Wan was planning on sacrificing himself but Kylo straight up murdered him in cold blood. Even Qui-Gon got a chance to defend himself with Maul.

Plus after all the criticism about being too much like the OT, It would be terrible to have yet another one be redeemed since it became a cliché in the old EU.

      • February 4, 2017 at 8:07 pm

I agree that turning over to the dark/light side is a cliche. I guess it’s a point of view, since I don’t consider Han’s death to be that bad and found he went down in his own noble way (a father trying to save his son).
Characters have been killed off that we know and love in harsh ways before, it just shows us that even in a work of fiction, the unexpected can happen to even the most important of people, in the cruelest of ways.

  • February 4, 2017 at 2:41 pm

Obviously not as powerful as Yoda or he wouldn’t be where he is today. I don’t think he will be as overpowered as he was in the old EU either. He’s going to be more grounded like the Byrne era Superman. Especially given Hamill’s advancing age.

  • February 4, 2017 at 4:55 pm

I am wondering if there will be any Force Ghosts at all. Lucasfilm is obviously working really hard to win over the large China market (multiple pressers, more asian actors). The “no ghost” policy of China may influence the decision. $$$
