There’s Been an Episode VIII Wrap Party in London! Have You Felt It?
While there still might be some minor Episode VIII filming happening in the next days, principle photography for Star Wars: Episode VIII is now officially finished. To celebrate the event, cast and crew gathered together for a special party yesterday at the National History Museum in London. Hit the jump for several photos from the event.
Two weeks ago Mark Hamill posted on Twitter that Episode VIII filming will end on July 22. Yesterday the actor posted another tweet revealing that filming has already wrapped.

Very often wraps happen before the last days of shooting, since it’s based around the leads. It’s possible that some minor filming might take place in the following days, but the main job is done.
Here are several photos from the event that we managed to find on Instagram. Seems like it was a lot of fun.

Expectedly Mark Hamill was the most wanted cast member for selfies.

Well meme’d. Very nice.
Damn fool, I knew you’d say that… 😉
Oh, I love this! They are all so cute. 🙂

Note the shorter beard. Hamill hate beard. Why do I get the feeling that the reshoot a will be in October or November. If they were going to be in February or later, he could have shaved it.
Of course there will have to be reshoot because it’s a tent pole film, it’s a no brainier
Is that an insult to the film or a warning?
Or he wants to change his facial hair? It’s more like a Heisenberg Goatee than a fullbeard. Maybe he likes the style of the beard but doesn’t want it itching so he compromised. But that can’t be possible right, because it would mean that you can’t complain about Ep. VIII more than a year before its released
All I was saying that he didn’t shave the beard completely like he did after he was done with TFA, and since he’s gone on record as saying he dislikes having a beard, that might point to him being scheduled for reshoot a later this year rather than early next year.
I wasn’t complaining about anything regarding EVIII. I never have.
Quite one of the best warps in movie history.
I thought Star Trek had the best warps.
Maybe both of them have the best warps.
I don’t know man these are pretty damn good
Well played!
Was Adam Driver there?
hope this means title announcement this weekend (and hopefully some footage!)
Yet if they start reshooting 40% of the movie next year, you’d have some fanboys coming forward telling us it’s just the normal course.
40% reshoot rumor was completely debunked.
what was the truth exactly?
They are shooting inserts to preexisting footage to flesh out characters better.
By who? While I agree that people overreacted and I’m not worried about it, the only official word we have(or that I have read) comes from the people who risked millions of dollars on the project and are still hoping to make millions of dollars on the project. Can’t exactly blindly believe what they say. Nor can you blindly believe anonymous sources, though one could argue they have far less to gain then Lucasfilm and Disney do. My feeling has always been to relax, wait for the finished product and maybe several years down the road we will get a version of the truth that seems plausible by people who are no longer looking to profit off of the film.
By common sense. You can’t shoot that much of a movie in that short a time.
Depends what the schedule is, the amount of money they are willing to spend to get it done and what 40% is being re-shot. You can do a lot in 30 days. Like I said I don’t take either side with 100% truth. What actually happened lies somewhere in between.
It seems like you had no problem believing the anonymous sources regarding the 40% reshoot rumor.
It seems like you have problems with reading comprehension because I didn’t write that. In point of fact I believe both sides are exaggerating their version of the problem. Perhaps both sides are purposely doing so. One side trying to sensationalize the issue for clicks and what comes with it, the other side trying to calm fears and ensure their multi-million dollar enterprise isn’t swamped by rumors that could potentially impact the expected profits. With the truth lying somewhere in between.
Re-shoots are normal for a big blockbuster, but with the reports from both sides I came to the conclusion they are bigger than what Lucasfilm wants to admit and smaller than what was reported. A cause for concern, but nothing to get overly excited about for either side of that argument. Its all speculation.
My bad. I confused you with the previous poster.
Debunked by who?
By the filmmakers and everyone associated with the making of the film.
But the internet is always right, tho.
It must be hard being unable to look forward to something for once…
I’m looking forward for these movies to see how ridiculous it can get. With TFA as the first installment, SW is set up for failure. My questions are, will it be a shameless rehash of ESB? Will the script and charcaters as bad as in TFA? Will there be plot holes and lucky coincidences every two minutes?
This is what depression must be like i assume. Even if 90% people who watched it liked it you just hate it and you are already so pessimistic that no future star wars movie will ever be able to cheer you up. I sincerely hope that there will be a star wars movie that lets you forget the nostalgia you are clinging onto so that you can enjoy what’s coming the next couple of years. my best wishes to you
Even if 99% of people liked it that would mean nothing. Movies like Tranfsormers are pretty popular although it’s totally PC to criticize them, unlike TFA which has some sort of Disney anti criticism shield. The inumerable flaws of TFA have been described by many youtubers and non mainstream articles but it is never adressed either by the production or TFA apologists. The hate for this movie isn’t irrational, it’s backed by facts like it sets up future movies that cannot fix the problems created in the first movie.
Glad to hear that cast and crew made it through the process un scathed and intact.
Can’t wait for the film, and good luck on filming episode IX which I hope is an emotional and visual spectacle finale to this trilogy.
What’s with all the panda stuff? I know they’ve been using it during the shooting, but what’s the significance?
Space bear is the code name for episode 8, that’s the logo I assume, it’s a panda wearing a ewok hood
It’s wearing an astronaut’s helmet
Yea after looking at it again your right, makes more sense than an ewok hood.
More sense than an Ewok hood? On Endor that kinda attitude would get you tied to a spit quicker than you could say nub nub.
Is it too much to ask to see photos of Adam Driver aka the real hero of the story. 😉
He is in New York.
Wheres Carrie?..Barely seen anything of her
I remember when all I wanted was for episode 7 not to suck. I thought it ended up quite good. So now I’m sitting here thinking… well of course episode 8 will be great! That’s dangerous! I need to clamp down on that and get back into doubt mode. That way I’ll be more easily impressed 😛
let´s pay very close attention whether there will be reshoots next year so that we can get absurdly worried and get sure the movie will be a mess, or not.
There will be reshoots. All movies of this size and importance these days have them. Reshoots on a tent pole film in no way predict the quality of that film. They are inevitable and usually scheduled ahead of time. Studios and directors just don’t know exactly what they will need to reshoot until editing begins. Not even RJ knows exactly what they’re going to reshoot at this point but he & LF probably said: “Mark, please don’t shave the beard, we’ll probably have to reshoot a few scenes so let it grow back by November.”
Two days after Episode VII wrapped, the title was revealed. Now, Episode VIII has wrapped… we’ll likely to have our title by the end of Celebration, now. With that may come the Episode VIII teaser poster. Plus the Rogue One trailer? We’re in for an exciting Celebration indeed.
Am I the only one getting kinda annoyed with dancing stormtroopers? It’s like they’re becoming better known for dancing than inaccurate blaster fire. I don’t understand the appeal; a bunch of idiots dressed as Stormies got to the finals of Britain’s got (no) talent… without the costumes (not 501st standard by the way) they’d have just been a really awful dance act, yet somehow because they were stormtroopers people thought it was funny. /nerdrantover.
The BGT stormies are probably the ones at the warp party.
