Covergirl Previews Star Wars: The Force Awakens Themed Makeup.
Covergirl has unveiled part of its makeup line-up that will tie into Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. Something interesting about this tie-in is that it seems to potentially reveal a few lines used in the movie.
Shown above are two of six make-up themes: “Droid” and “Stormtrooper”. (The other four themes seem to be Nomad, Sage, Apprentice, and Chrome, if an earlier report is of any indication.) Below are the lipstick colors tied to the merchandise (which have standard names) and the nail polish colors (which are named “Light”, “Nemesis”, and “Red Revenge”).
Typically, none of this stands out in any way as far as merchandise goes. However, the mascara line seems to be more interesting, as it features seven lines from existing Star Wars movies… and three lines which appear to be new quotes from The Force Awakens.
The quotes are as follows (the first five are “Light Side” and the last five are “Dark Side”):
- May the Force be with you.
- Do, or do not. There is no try.
- You’re my only hope.
- I feel the good in you.
- Luminous beings are we.
- I will finish what you started.
- There has been an awakening.
- Indeed, you are powerful.
- You will meet your destiny.
- Immune to the Light.
We already know about “There has been an awakening.” from the trailer – and technically, we have previously heard about those other two new quotes when these initially leaked out. However, their association with the Dark Side has not been shown previously, so I think that’s interesting. I get the feeling “I will finish what you started.” is a line stated by Kylo Ren – just a hunch.

I felt like we needed a bit of a fluff piece after a pretty hectic day.
I like the new quotes and what they imply.
It might not help me looking good as a guy…But….We need some Cantina/SW7N-Girls trying that stuff out…I wanna know….
“Real sets….. Practical effects. It’s different but at the same time it’s not durr “
Cantina hookers?
You just had to go ” there ” and get creepy.
I’m not sold on this.
1. The lipstick colors have regular names? Why not name them after characters or concepts from Star Wars? Shouldn’t be too much of a hassle.
2. Only three colors of nail polish, and not one of them in an new and interesting color. Many people who like nail polish often like variety. Personally, I’d not use silver lipstick, but I’d totally experiment with gold, silver or other color nail polishes. Missed opportunity.
3. Mascara – why bring out 12! different designs (quotes) if they are all going to be the same. No-one is going to buy all 12 if they are all the same. They should have gone with variety (in effect or color) here, too. Missed opportunity.
4. What, no eye shadow? The most striking feature of both girls in the ad is their eye make-up, but guess what: you’ll have to go hunting for your own eye shadow, because we are not going to include them in the series.
Conclusion: Whoever thought out this campaign should be fired. There is no real concept to it, other than printing the logo on the packaging. The lipsticks don’t have cool names; the nail polish options have cool names, but there are not nearly enough or even interesting colors; the mascara is simply repackaging of the simplest stuff they have on offer, and there is neither eye shadow (which there absolutely had to be to allow for a complete Star Wars make-up) nor any of the other stuff both models are wearing. Not thought trough. Cheap and unimaginative. Wrong brand partner?
This is too much.
Can’t wait for the a-wing Butt creme…
Jo! There used to be a collectible Star Wars shaving kit. Why shouldn’t there be stormtrooper lipstick.
And in any case, how is this more useless than toys?
i hope i see some females wearing this including my girlfriend.
There’s a plethora of revealing information in those names if only we knew which characters were saying what about who?
What does immune to the light mean? Maybe bringing balance to the force eliminated both sides?
