First Look Inside Marvel’s Comic Book “Star Wars #1”!

Star_Wars_1_Variant_Cover

Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive first look at some pages from Marvel’s Star Wars #1. The comic book is expected to hit shelves next week. It will be the first Marvel-published Star Wars book in over 20 years, and it’s the next entry in the brand-new Star Wars canon.

From Entertainment Weekly:

Next week marks the start of a new era for Star Wars with the launch of Marvel’s Star Wars #1 by the all-star team of Jason Aaron, John Cassaday, and Laura Martin.

Set between episodes IV and V, the book will focus on the adventures of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia following the Death Star’s destruction. It’s also quite possibly the biggest comic of 2015, expected to sell one million copies—the first comic in two decades to do so.

Courtesy of Marvel, here’s your first look at lettered pages from next week’s Star Wars #1. If it’s any indication of what’s in store, it might just live up to the hype.

This could be pretty good. I just hope that the canon doesn’t get as bogged down in retreads, foreshadowing, and wandering as the EU had in its day.

Why the hell does Star Wars need a comic and all sorts of whacky novels? All these serve is to grab a quick buck and water down the canon and make it hard to follow. These don’t even appeal to the majority of Star Wars fans either I mean who has time to read comics? What are we, 11 years old in the year 1980 again?

Nobody is forcing you to buy these or accept them as canon, right? …

I kind of agree with this one… I’m fine with new comics but I find that only a team of writers working in conjunction with the story group should be able to create content that’s considered “canon”.

I’ve been watching Star Wars Rebels… while the show isn’t as bad as clone wars, it’s not great either. I’m not sure how comfortable I am with it being considered canon. I appreciate the efforts of the creators, but Rebels just doesn’t *feel* like star wars to me, and thus depreciates the value of the original work. I know that a lot of the details in the original films were agonized over… I think all Star Wars content should be done that way, because Star Wars fan base is a diverse community that benefits from content that’s produced in a diverse fashion.

So will this make my SW comics from the 70’s and 80’s worth a bit more, or less?

I would think your original issue dark horse or marvel comics will continue to rise in value. If anything this should boost them based on the fact that there will be no reprints of the dark horse versions, therefore making them more of a rarity.

      Comics are worth nothing nowadays.

About the same. Mabey less. Its the novels that are worthless now. But that’s no loss.

Not a fan of the syntax of the comic. Would they ever use a word like “gangster”? Smuggler, yes, but gangster, no. Should’ve picked a stronger copy editor for the comic. Words matter just as much as the pictures.

      Jabba’s a gangster. Why wouldn’t they?

I mean, crazy old wizards exist in Star Wars.

The word “gangster” is used in the OT and PT. By the way, you’re confused about the word syntax. Syntax refers to grammar, while this is just terminology.

You’ve made a mistake. Episode 1, the phantom menace had this line. ” The Hutts are gangsters” to Quigon Jinn aboard the ship.

Why is it they can never do a good Luke Skywalker compared to the rest of the drawing?

Luke looks too young .Is that what they are going for these days ?A youngish Luke?
That doesn’t even look like him.
