UPDATE! New Episode 7 Character Rumors Plus Rebels Video Featuring Darth Vader. Lupita Nyong’o And John Boyega Geeking Out on VII.

Vader

Hit the jump for the latest interesting posts on the social networks about a galaxy far, far away…

As we reported last week, Darth Vader will make a special cameo appearance in Star Wars: Rebels’ premiere on abc. And not only that but he will be again voiced by James Earl Jones.

Now here’s a first look at Vader’s scene from the upcoming premiere.

And now some really interesting bits about Episode VII from BadAssDigest’s Devin Faraci:

This sounds really interesting. As I told you a few days ago after the concept art leaked, one of our sources shared with us that no major characters in Episode VII will be a cyborg or will have any metal arms or legs or eyes or whatever. Now Devin’s words support that.

Also there are rumors from some time now that some actors intentionally didn’t appear in the Episode VII table read photo. Now I’m not sure if Devin means that the surprising actor who plays the villain is from the already announced cast or a new one. Who might that be? That’s the big question. At least I can tell you that it’s not Daniel Craig as some people already started speculating. Although he might have indeed visited the Episode VII set, his visit at Pinewood was strictly for the new Bond movie and not Star Wars.

And Han Solo’s big part in the movie is something we heard before and is not surprising at all. After all the whole production was shut down for almost a month after his injury. He is important. And it’s great to hear this from Devin too.

We’re only 3 weeks aways from the end of filming and there are really exciting times ahead of us. I’m sure that despite the recent leaks J.J. and the team will have plenty of surprises in store when the movie hits the big screens on December 18, 2015.

Now some more tweets.

First Star Wars spin-off movie writer Gary Whitta vs. Star Wars: Episode VIII writer and director Rian Johnson. 🙂

If anyone still has doubts on how you should watch Clone Wars and Star Wars in general:

And something that I kinda agree with:

UPDATE!

Here is maybe the first Star Wars related comment that Lupita Nyong’o posted since she was announced to appear in Episode VII.

Someone else will have to break the news then. Sorry, but Devin just loves teasing with his ambiguous boasting. That art leak was the real deal and convincing. I’m tired of playing games of “guess the whopee”. MakingStarWars at least at very in depth descriptions of the concept art. Faraci is just playing games like JJ. “Here’s a little tidbit dogs, now go play.”

Many people have convinced themselves over the years that Han stole the first movie too.

It’s about story focus. So the first film was told from mainly Luke’s POV. Everyone else had stories as well but the film gave it to us from his as opposed to Leia’s or Han’s or Ben’s or Vader’s etc.

Obviously many weeks of shooting have happened without Ford. They are still shooting with his part apparently wrapped according to reports.

For instance reports indicate that in Arndt’s script the focus was more on the new people than the originals. That doesn’t mean the originals didn’t do the same things they still will it’s just that the focus of how they did it will be presented in more scenes. As Lucas said he left a lot of blank spots intentionally in for the film-makers to fill in.

His treatment would set out the basic story and the major beats but leaves lots of leeway for all sorts of things to happen in-between them.

Its Han Solos movie because he is going to be the first to go, each movie in this trilogy is going to off one of the original trilogies main three characters.

to pave the way for a new generation.

And presumably nobody is goign to go out like a punk.

As soon as they finish filming I’m pretty sure things are going to go dark for a little while as everything gets put away and the crews start clean up. However they won’t be able to keep quite for long as the extras and crew that are no longer needed and don’t have anything to loose are going to start to talk. So once the wrap party is over I predict we will see official announcements regarding cast and characters within a few weeks.

So Han Solo is going to die, and I am going to be completely devastated. I hope they don’t make this trilogy too dark, and keep the charm of the OT.

Would be nice to see Han Solo in ep8 (To rhyme the OT : Empire) Gives people (new fans) something to grasp and further establish his ‘older’ character’s relationship to family and friends. Making it that much tragic when he exits.
I guess they know what they are doing given the immense factors involved with filming, contracts, story integrity etc. The fates of the OT characters are unquestionably a major concern for fans.

The only problem with Han´s death (which might make a lot of sense, particularly for the fans who know the context deeper than the average viewer) is that is very, very, very predictable. I would think of JJ as someone coming with surprises and the unexpected. That was one of the elements that made ESB so great. If they are clever they should let someone else go.

    • October 17, 2014 at 8:12 pm
      Permalink

But it’s predictable because everyone knows deep down that it needs to happen. It’s time for him to die. I mean if not now, then everyone will expect it to happen in episode 8. Whatever the situation, it won’t be a surprise. Their only option would be to make the circumstances a surprise. Maybe he is suddenly betrayed and THAT’S the surprise for the audience. They can’t just ignore common sense just because it won’t be a surprise. Not every plot point needs to be a big unexpected ‘I am your father’ moment anyway, it can be a big impact because of the actual emotion rather than the surprise of it all.

“But it’s predictable because everyone knows deep down that it needs to happen. It’s time for him to die.”

But why? Honestly… if the reason is akin to most fans’ belief that the new trilogy should erase the OT characters out of existence to focus on building new ones (at the expense of the originals of whom were largely responsible for Star Wars’ success in the first place) then I would argue instead that due to the newly established canon now is as good a time as any to write these characters’ into the sunset, and further explore their stories in books, games, etc. therefore not taking away from newer characters, and continuing their stories for those of us who do not want to see their deaths forever tarnish Star Wars. That way we all get what we want, eh?

Maybe I’m too idealistic, but I don’t want any of the original 3 to be evil or die. They didn’t in the OT so there is no need to do that now. I don’t see Luke being evil anyway. Lucas always planned the new trilogy to be Luke handing off to the next generation.

Should all check yourself in the mental hospital if for one second you think Luke is evil. He had closure, he knew his father had good in him, Anakin himself said that he had saved him. Luke stood and watched his father’s suit remains burn. Then he saw his father as a young Jedi in his prime.. and you think after all that he would turn to the dark side and worship his father’s burnt armor? Gimme a break.

Someone of the Skywalker bloodline is obviously the grave robber I will admit. As many have said, just look at the admiration and love he/she holds the helmet with. Some strong connection there forsure. Very interesting, but I do believe that is an early rough outline of what they wanted the villain to look like, but I don’t think his/her story changes much.

“Seriously?” You couldn’t sound more valley girl if you were a dude breaking in your sister’s pumps. Let’s be correct, the prequel actors (with the exception of the rebellious Ewan McGregor) were ALL nothing more than puppets for a man who at this point has only directed 4 films in thirty years (1976, 1997, 2000, & 2003) and the only reason the original came out as good was from his being aided by his industry buddies who padded the dialogue or suggested certain dynamic approaches. Even the damn actors gave a little, like Harrison Ford (Ford also did spin doctoring for scenes in Empire and Raiders as well). Blaming the actors for doing what they were told to do is like shooting the messenger. Christiansen made suggestions in both Episodes II & III for Anakin to be more believable, but Lucas shot these down with his “Oh, he is who he is” gibberish. I suppose the highlight of your Star Wars experience was watching the Ewoks dance around at the end of Return of the Jedi

Wow, talking dump on Ewoks? that’s hitting below the belt a little. No, the Ewoks weren’t the highlight. I thought that Ben in the Cantina with those alien dudes was a way better scene.
        Guy: You just watch yourself,
        Luke: ok, I’ll be careful…

All this speculation is somewhat ironic, considering this is the most (internally) documented SW film in history. As we speak (and since the beginning) hundreds of hours of behind the scenes footage have been shot by dozens of individuals covering every aspect of this movie. Even the first meetings between Disney and Lucas, and between Lucas and Arndt before that we’te documented.

Yet here we sit, chasing after vapors.

Not necessarily related to this post but… I don’t know if this has been thrown out there yet, but I have yet to see this theory about the chrome trooper. If Luke is the ultimate Jedi Knight, why not have him don the Chrome Trooper outfit? It would explain why we have not seen his Jedi beard in any concept stuff yet, as it would be covered, and it would harken back to an old and aged knight in shining armor.

I keep thinking the villain is some sort of reversal or twist on the Vader/Luke paradigm from the OT. To keep with the familial theme.

If the protagonist is Ridley then maybe the Dark Knight/Grave Robber is her mother?

It could also be a son of Luke once thought perished at a young age. Maybe thats what drove Luke into seclusion?

…or something else entirely. Knowing how much they want to connect this to the OT, I just keep thinking it has to be some variation of of the Vader/Luke dynamic.

The actor is Pernilla August! It’s Shmi Skywalker!!!

    …just kidding …sort of.

Harrison Ford insists Han Solo must die and now we have to watch beloved characters whose narrative was resolved in ROTJ all bite the dust in ways that will definitely affect the way the original trilogy will be seen in hindsight. I love The Beatles, and while I don’t love “Free As A Bird” and “Real Love,” they don’t ruin the twelve albums they made together when they were all alive. Still it was a highly unnecessary and problematic addition to their oeuvre, and I don’t see a reason for these new Star Wars episodes if they come at the expense of the legacy of the three main characters. Luke or Leia turning dark, watching Han and Chewie die, are all unnecessary if you ask me. My humble opinion. I wish I could say I’d rather have these than not, but I am not so sure I can.

I was saying 2 years ago, that this is exactly why I don’ t want to see the holy trinity back – I don’ t need to see them old, I don’ t want to see them die, I want to keep them in my memory frewh and young, with great ending of E6. It could be a story of new heroes, letting the faře of old ones toeveryones imagination. Because now it is risky how it ends – we may see them die, or in a plot we may not like and it can negatively affect how we see the OT…..

I think its safe to say that

1)The Graverobber figure is a dark side force user. He picks up Vader’s helmet and touches it with a sense of familiarity that can only stemm from a close relationship with the deceased Sith Lord.

    2) He seems seriously angered and tries to contemplate what Vader’s death means for the rule of 2 and the fate of the Sith.

3)While his hand is certainly robotic his face in the first picture seems part humanoid – part so ancient that it practically appears like dust. The second depiction of the Graverobber goes for a close up to his face and this is proof that the studio is not yet set on whether they want to go cyborg or really ancient with this character. Thus we have 2 distinct visualizations of him.

4)The ship he Graverobber is on is a Super Star Destroyer i belive, their interiors tend to be depicted a bit darker than the grayish smaller Destroyer vessels. Makes sense as well that it is a Super class because it could be the only thing secure enough that could be used as a safe haven for the Empire Remants. Or maybe its part of a new starship fleet the Graverobber commands>

    5) Since we have never seen such a figure in the canon it safe to assume that this character is either a higher-up in Sith society, coming from hyperspace to inspect the results of Palpatine’s blunder in the battle of Endor OR he is actually a secret student/ partner/ fan of Vader. In either cases this nightmarish figure has arrived in the Galaxy and means bussiness.

    6) Although we cannot say for sure that the Graverobber is part of a flashback (at what exact point did he retrieve Vader’s helemt?) or he will be present oriented, my money is that he will be a first/second shot OR final scene of the film. Just too important for anyhting in between.

    7) This character will be the focus of the new Trilogy, an analog to Vader, not Palpatine who operated from the shadows. Why do I say that? Because he indeed means business and it feels like he has come to take revenge. While his physique does not strike me as a brute force dealer he certainly feels like a powerful Sith Sorcerer or Assasin. In either case he feels like a full-fledged Sith, a careful and savage simultaneously one at that.

That’s all for now…. tell me your thoughts on this

I heard rumors Hand and Leia never got together in the Disneyverse. With those two pics of Lupita and John, could they be Han’s children from another woman. Therefore could those two pics hint that Lupita loves her father while John has issues. John may have rebelled and joined the New Empire…but…that is too obvious a conclusion from those pics, therefore it has to mean something else. Lupita wearing that green over her tooth to me hints at something more. Green tooth can indicate decay, swamp living analogy or witchery. The only one that fits the SW universe is the latter, then again Lupita could just be goofing off.
Why the Han Solo in Stormtrooper garb, there is the rumor John portrays a Stormtrooper, could Lupita be the one chasing him down. Obviously some clues in those pics are misleading, therefore which clues do you throw out and witch one do you keep.

Gleesom plays Luke’s son. It’s no coincidence that he looks so much like Ben Skywalker from the EU. Sure, the EU is gone, but Filoni himself said that they’re gonna pick some things they liked to the new canon.
And the Star Wars Trilogies are still all about the Skywalkers, so it makes sense that Luke has a son.
Sure, Gleesom won’t be the Ben we know from the EU, but an alternate version. His mum won’t be Mara – my sources tell me she won’t exist in the films, but rather that Luke had a romance with a rebell girl some time in the past.
Gleesom’s reveal is the big cliffhanger at the end of Ep VII, and we’ll get his whole story in Ep VIII.

btw: I’ve also heard that Daisy is indeed Leia and Han’s daughter, but that she had a fallout with her parents (who aren’t together anymore in the movie) and that’s why she’s living in the AT-AT. In one old version of the script this fallout also had something to do with her brother – but I can’t guarantee that he’s still in the final version of the script. If he is though, it’s highly likely that Driver will play him.
In the leaked concept art where Daisy is fighting the Grave Robber, there’s someone laying on the ground. That was originally supposed to be Daisy’s brother.

Won’t believe until theres is some concrete proof like the concept art. Lots of rumors but very little control or restraint in posting them. The forum user Kyle, who keeps posting fake scoops and no admins here shutdown his threads is plenty.

You’re absolutely right. There’s also a lot of outdated info around these bords.

I saw the same script as Nina above and I know for a fact that there were rewrites after that. Some things stayed the same (the story about Luke’s son), but other things – like whether or not Driver’s character is still Daisy’s brother – might have changed.

As for Daisy’s fallout with her family: I read the version where she leaves because her brother joined the Empire (he’s not evil, mind you, he just thinks that the New Republic is making the same mistakes as the Old). But my source – who read a different version of the script – tells me that Driver’s no longer her brother and just an ordinary fighter pilot for the Empire.
No my personal opinion is that this person saw an outdated version of the script. There’s a very powerful scene near the end of the movie that wouldn’t work if Driver wasn’t Daisy’s brother. And that kind of scene doesn’t get written out (hint: remember Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon vs Darth Maul).

So take everything with a grain of salt.

I find it interesting though you have access to the script. But yes, this is a very hilarious situation we are in. Some sites have reliable info but at the same time, they also have false info. Everything is mixed in together. Making Star Wars I believe is a good example. But appears he has a lot of inside access most other on the ‘Net don’t have.

Indie Revolver is also an interesting bloke. He has been very quiet on the Star Wars front for awhile since showing the one image of the Falcon exploding on the Ice/Forest planet.

Just to clarify: I only saw an earlier draft of the script (or rather an outline), not the final script.
The version I saw was a “middle” version. For example: the whole Daisy finds Luke’s lightsaber thing was already gone. That leaked concept art with Daisy, JB and the blue lightsaber is art for that early version of the script that didn’t make it into the final story.

maybe Daisy isn’t related at all to Skywalkers or Solos.

Maybe VII is about the empire’s rebuild and the recollection of Vader both literally and metaphorically as a puppet to reignite the empire?

The new cast call upon the old cast to help them decipher the past and combat a new foe?

VII is also about rescuing Luke so that he can train Ridley in Viii?

I also wonder if maybe Luke has lost a child before VII begins?

I don’t care what anybody says. I still think Daisy is lukes child. Leia has been keeping her for him, kinda how Obi-wan was watching over luke. Luke was the main character and not Leia. It would be cheap for luke not to have offspring.

Gleesom (whom we meet in flashback) was Luke’s son who died years earlier and Luke feels responsible and lives in isolation and darkness.

The new rumor on the Force.net sounds pretty fake to me. Funny that you guys haven’t made an update on it yet. If TFN wanted to validate it why not try and do it with some sort of evidence like a script copy or something?

The actor who is playing the baddie WAS at the table reading. I just have this strong feeling it’s Luke Skywalker.

Daisy and Driver are Skywalker/Solo siblings. They were never told about Darth Vader being their grandfather. They were also not trained in the ways of the force by their uncle Luke, the only remaining Jedi after he lost a child and went into seclusion.

Driver starts investigating the history of the Jedi, eventually leading him to the realization that Vader was his grandfather. He starts teaching himself ways of the force with whatever artifacts he can find. His dark emotional state plus his Jedi self training are an unstable combination.

He becomes the grave robber in his lust for further self discovery and validation. Daisy confronts her brother and he scares her. He explains to her that she is related to Vader.

Daisy seeks out her uncle Luke to help.

(The idea that driver is the grave robber is compelling to me. It also starts to create an arc built around a fractured brother-sister relationship. By early in episode 9 he could be brought back from the dark side to be a sister-brother Jedi combo that will challenge whatever villain appealed to Drivers character.)
