Happy Birthday, Harrison Ford!
Today is Harrison Ford’s 72nd Birthday. Who would’ve thought that, as he celebrates, he would be in the midst of filming another Star Wars?! No one in a million years. After the jump we’ll take a brief look at Mr. Ford’s stellar career.
Starting out and struggling in Hollywood in the mid ’60’s, Harrison was discovered, really, by a young filmmaker named George Lucas who used Ford in his nostalgic film-look at the 1950’s called American Graffiti. Lucas friend and cohort in American Zoetrope, Francis Ford Coppola, also saw the potential in Ford as he used the young actor in two of his movies The Conversation and the classic Apocalypse Now, in which he played a character fittingly named “Coloniel Lucas.” Then George eventually brought Ford in for Star Wars and then Indiana Jones, when first choice Tom Selleck couldn’t get out of his Magnum P.I. contract. How different would Indy have been?
Through playing Han Solo, Indiana Jones, and Rick Deckard, Harrison Ford became, without question, the biggest box office star of the ’80’s and early ’90’s. His movies have grossed billions of dollars in worldwide box office. Many of his films, whether starring or appearing, are included in top 100 lists, such as the aforementioned Apocalypse Now, Blade Runner, and, of course the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises.
It has been well-documented that Harrison never again intended to play Han Solo and, in a bit of irony, was injured when he broke his left leg recently while filming on the set of the Millennium Falcon. However, Disney, and, of course, us fans are ecstatic that he has returned for at least one more go around.
When all is said and done, Harrison Ford will go down as one of the greatest legends of Hollywood and is easily this writer’s all-time favorite actor, a sentiment MANY, no doubt, share. With that in mind, everyone here at starwarsnewsnet.com, wishes you the very best on this momentous occasion. Happy Birthday, Mr. Ford!!! And Thank You!
Real quick. Concerning the last article. Unfortunately a lot people couldn’t get past the first couple of paragraphs. There are opinions I’m going to keep to myself but just wanted to say I liked the article and enjoy your writings. Keep up the good work.
P.S. Happy B-Day Harrison.
Happy Birthday Harrison.
You are one of the famous moviestar ever.
and I want to see Star Wars VII. My dream is being a jedi actor:)
Hopefully Harrison’s birthday will be the day he realises that
‘Female are simply boring’
and
‘Men and women aren’t equal. Period.’
and
‘Star Wars fan base is predominately male, so that’s who it should appeal to.’
and
‘LIFE IS NOT FAIR! Life would be boring as hell if it were.’
Yep. Happy birthday Harrison from all at starwarsnewsnet.com xx ..
For Heaven’s sake, don’t bring that cancerous argument from the last article into this one. It was bad enough already.
Happy Birthday Harrison!
Wow. Glad I missed it last time around.
Ripley in Alien, and Aeon Flux are not boring,
Females have been in sci fi and are exciting.
You just a dweeb!
Careful. “Female are simply boring” could go viral. The only way to stop it is not to repeat it.
Even if this might be his last SW movie, i’m just glad he came back at least for one more movie… HaPpY bIrThDaY !!!
Happy birthday Harrison Ford!!
He also shares his birthday with another scifi star Patrick Stewart who is 74 years old. Wow!
Happy Birthday, Harrison! You will always be my favourite star and I hope you appear in the entire trilogy. Ohm manee padme ohm!
In other news, a recent photo that someone snagged (that I won’t share because I respect Harrison Ford’s privacy) showed that he was able to walk on his prosthetic leg without holding onto anything else. Getting better every day is a gift in and of itself.
Happy birthday to one of the best actors in the business.
Happy Birthday, Harrison! We’re all so grateful for your return to Star Wars!
And hopefully Indy 5… 😀
Wow! Hard to believe that Han Solo is 72! But clearly, Harrison is a very young 72! He could easily pass for 50. But it’s been 41 years since I first saw him in American Graffiti! May he have many, many years of great films roles ahead of him!
Happy Birthday Mr. Ford! Hope your leg heals quickly!
