Martin McCann and Jack O’Connell Rumored For Star Wars: Episode 7.

Two casting rumors about two male roles for Episode 7. Although it’s just a rumor they both fit the description of two of the already confirmed 7 characters…

The first rumor that fits the “young twenty-something male” comes from Bleeding Cool:

Jack O’Connell, who was excellent in Tower Block, Harry Brown, Skins and many more, is a real contender for a key role in Star Wars: Episode VII. I believe that he’s met with Abrams and the signs I’m getting are that this meeting went very well.
Meanwhile, I… I don’t think I can name a single American who’s in with a real shot at one of the new parts. We’ve heard about Saoirse Ronan, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Cumberbatch, Matt Smith, Rachel Hurd Wood, Jason Flemyng.

star wars

The second rumor fitting the “thirty-something male, intellectual” comes from a member from TFN boards. He surely is not credible but is pretty persistent and I think the rumor really makes sense.

Have had it on extremely good advice that (Irish actor) Martin McCann is currently in London, competing for the lead role in STAR WARS. I’m a Belfast man, and the source was 100%. He is DEFINITELY currently in London competing for the role. He’s already highly thought of by Spielberg.

Martin McCann’s close connection with Spielberg comes from the HBO series The Pacific produced by Speilberg. We all know that Spielberg is very close with Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy so casting suggestions from him are very probable.

I think episode 7 will be a better movie than fans think. Yes the originals were special and the preqels a little slower in plot details, but both genertions brought interesting characters, sith lords, and enough CGI to last us for 2 decades..lol…. but with new minds, and writers and directors and producers that are hard to get and very expensive, with them all wanting to do this because their hearts want to, i think many fans will be very surprised how good this movie will be… I think we will see new things, new ideas and surprises to this. JJ Abrams i believe will bring some fun into it. Also im glad they wont follow past books or novels like thrawn trilogy, old republic new republic, etc. It will be fresh and new ideas. It will suk a little not to see the traditional 20th century fox logo on it, but i think Disney will do better than most think. They have huge sets, great connections, and have worked with giant producton crews before. So i really believe this part 7 will be great. Both generations of the trilogies will always say thiers is better. What generation doesn’t. But this new one will re connect past and present Star wars fans like nothing before. Im glad to see this saga continue. it has the potential to become great once again. With all the power players in this, and connections, i dont see how they mess this up. I believe this will be a greater movie than critics think it will.. The CGI thing is dead and burried in Star Wars. The real film is back, so everyone get ready for the movie of a life time..Of course we have to wait til 2015 that suks.

Jack O’Connell could be a young Han in the first spin-off movie.

The rumor mill has slowed so much that it’s nice to see anything again! Ya know what would be cool? If Bad Robot maintained it’s secrets but also showed up a bunch of behind the scenes stuff like the creature work shop with some nearly finished items or stuff in progress that would just get us talking without actually revealing anything.

I remember the regular behind-the-scenes images on sw.com during the making of Ep2. They were fun.

These are both actors I would not mind seeing as lead roles in the new movie. Underrated and great talent.

I thought Justin Bieber was already cast as Luke Skywalker and Selina Gomez as Leia in SW Ep 7?

Both would make interesting additions to the cast. Another rumour: according to a Las Vegas paper, the first spin-off movie due in 2016 will indeed be the Han Solo Origin movie.

This article actually summed several rumors up that we’ve heard about the spin-off movies in the last few months.

i really liked Bryan Daley’s HS Trilogy, but not so much on AC Crispin’s back story. i want something totally new here, i just hope they recapture some of the mystique that the early days of SW seemed to have. i am not too keen on a flavor of the week feel on these stand alone movies. some of boba fett’s backstories were interesting, a lot were just ridiculous. i hope disney looks at “long term” and not just how many tickets they can sell in a weekend on these stories. i think that is what hurt a lot of the EU, some of the stories are just weak, i could not believe what passed over editor’s desks and went approved. when i watch a han solo stand alone movie, i want it to feel right and look good 40 years after, not have that “period” look to it, showing what year it was filmed. apart from the sideburns and a few of the hairstyles of the original SW, i think it has held up pretty well. i liked at the end of Revenge of the Sith it tried to incorporate the 70’s look with Bail Organa’s look along with Captain Antilles and the crew…-Prymal

i am showing my age and the fact that i do not keep up with hollywood that much anymore, but other than chiwetel ejiofor and bennedict cumberpatch (and that is only thru the commercials for ST into darkness) i have absolutely no idea who any of these people are, LOL @ myself. that is ok though, i think SW speaks for itself and mainly rests in the writing, not making sure that the most “hollywood-ized stars” are onboard for roles or even cameos. -Prymal

American actors must really feel slighted by Hollywood. I’m a big fan of English actors and UK actors in general. But what’s wrong with American actors?? Do they not have the gravitas for key roles? Maybe they should take some speech/dialect classes.
