UPDATE! The Rogue One Tickets to Go On Sale On Monday, November 28 + New IMAX Posters!
As you know the Rogue One tickets are already on sale in many European countries. Now the long awaited confirmation for the rest of the world has finally come via the official Star Wars Twitter account.
According to the official Star Wars Twitter page, fans will be able to purchase tickets for ‘Rogue One’ on Monday, November 28, 2016. No exact time of the day is specified at this time. Keep in mind, that tickets for Star Wars: The Force Awakens were available in the evening in North America the first day they went on sale. We’ll update you when new information becomes available.

Update: EW.com‘s Anthony Breznican is saying the sale begins at midnight Eastern for most ticket-sellers. However, they also said that the timing is up to the individual retailers.

ive had 4 seats for over a while now ,for a corporate screening on the 16th dec ….. company just hire the whole screen months in advance , book every seat , we get free popcorn n all .

I’ll continue to not forgive how the Lincolnshire IMAX got rid of their 70mm projector…ugh.
Rogue one wasn’t shot in 70mm I don’t think. However, some of those 70mm theaters already upgraded to IMAX laser which is very cool and would be the ideal theater to see Rogue One since it was shot 6k digital. Which state is Lincolnshire in? I live in Chicago & a laser projector was just installed there.
70mm projectors will probably only be used if Dunkirk or if Episode 8 was partly shot in IMAX format… did Rian film any of 8 in IMAX or is it all 35mm?
Yes, Rian did shoot part of Episode VIII in IMAX.
Lincolnshire is in Illinois as well, north of Chicago. I forgot that the Navy Pier IMAX installed the laser, how does it look?

I haven’t seen the laser yet, but I can say with confidence it will be the best theater to see it at for several reasons (asides from the inconvenience of getting there/ expensive parking).
#1. It’s HUGE. I saw Interstellar there on real 70mm and it was very impressive.
#2. It will be a better image fidelity than any other IMAX in Illinois (better contrast levels, deeper blacks & brighter brights/ more color), + IMAX laser theaters also have 3D sound systems with overhead channels.
The only exception to that would be the AMC PRIME theaters which actually do get brighter than IMAX laser, but will not show the film in 3D… only IMAX laser will do 3D. On brightness scale, AMC PRIME can do 22 foot lamberts, IMAX laser can do 18 foot lamberts, vs. old IMAX’s which are 12 Foot lamberts and most other cinemas are 8 foot lamberts. Rogue One & all other Disney/ Marvel films will be mastered to take full advantage of these theater’s capabilities 🙂
Umm… Actually it was. Was shot with an Arri Alexa 65, in ultra panavision 70 (70mm film includes the 5mm audio. So really, the picture itself is 65mm).

When TFA showed in IMAX digital it wasn’t displayed in 70mm format/ aspect ratio… it was cropped compared to the film version which was only displayed in several U.S. theaters, so 95% of anyone who saw TFA in IMAX didn’t see it as it was intended to be seen. Maybe it will be different this time since it was filmed digitally, assuming IMAX digital is capable of displaying that aspect ratio.
i’m just litereally telling you that it was shot with an Ari Alexa 65 (70mm) camera, and will be shown at 70mm theaters…. in the link above lol. (i will re-post)

I get what you’re saying… but that’s not “real” 70 mm. The IMAX 70mm displays as a large square that can fill the entire IMAX screen. Even if Rogue One is printed to 70mm film to be projected in a 70mm IMAX theater, it will still display in the Ari Alexa aspect ratio (rectangular image not filling the full screen, as opposed to IMAX which fills the entire square)

Or in other words, if they want to make Rogue One fill the square IMAX format they’d have to crop off a significant amount of the frame to make it fit the screen… highly doubt they will do that.
I am not sure what “real” 70mm is. You must be talking about IMAX 70, which uses an IMAX ratio. Rogue One uses Ultra Panavision lenses, thus, the Ultra Panavision 70 ratio (which i believe is the widest?). Never the less, it doesn’t make it ‘not real 70mm’. If anything, since it is ultra panavision, it is ‘real’ 700, since that has been used way before IMAX.
It’s the same lenses the Hateful Eight was shot with.
This news is agonizing for me because when 7’s tickets went on sale I was held up @ the doctor’s office with a cell phone drained of power… so I was only able to get tickets for a 2 AM show on premier night 🙁
On Monday I start my new job and am concerned they will go on sale while I’m stuck @ work or in traffic… I work 8 am to 6 pm central time… I hope they go on sale midnight.
Check your theaters website. I have Cinemark where I live and they go on sell at 12:01 am eastern time. I’m hoping their system allows me to buy tickets early like it did for episode 7 so I don’t have to deal with it crashing.
