Jar Jar has never been my favorite character but what they did to him was so unnecessary harsh. I know they did this to please a bunch of grown men that cannot get over a movie that came out in 1999 but still this is fan service taken to a new level of disturbing.
Yeah. Official fanservice to please the extremist haters. Wow, so inmature…
I didn’t listen to the podcast yet. Are you talking about Wendig’s book? Because, if that is the case, Jar-Jar interlude in Empire’s End comes from a completely different place, certainly not hate.
Jat Jar performing as a clown on the side of the road because the entire galaxy hates him certainly comes across as hate.
I think all is in the context. You must read it to understand it. He is performing for the children, orphans of war, who are waiting to be adopted. They love him and ask for him every day, while the adults ignore him – familiar, no? I will not spoil everything, the book is out tomorrow, but it is very hopeful and demonstrate that Jar-Jar is a tragic character, something Lucas wasn’t able to successfully convey.
I have read it that is why I am commenting on it. I am glad you felt differently about it but to me it screams of jaded fan service.
I can see both sides. At least Vader doesn’t slice Jar-Jar in half up the asshole.
one, he’s a fictional character. and two, i always thought this was more fitting fate for him:

Shit that’s a better fate than his current one lol.
Welp that sucks, I was hoping Jar Jar would be king of the fuckin Gungans or something, considering all of his achievements. Possibly even bump into him again during a trip to Naboo, heck at least they could’ve made him contribute to the rebellion in some way to right his wrongs! But this is just sad. They can’t really blame the guy for something everyone voted for soooo…
