New Star Wars: Episode 7 Pictures of the Millennium Falcon’s Interior from Pinewood?

Millennium FalconThe photos are only 4 and I personally haven’t seen them before. They do look like they were taken from Pinewood. If you want to take a peek then hit the jump and don’t worry there are no spoilers ahead…

So here they are:

The first picture definitely looks like a corridor of a Star Destroyer or another Imperial structure. It also perfectly matches with the pictures that TMZ leaked a few months ago again from Pinewood. Especially this one:

There’s nothing special about the Falcon pics but they do look legit. We know that during the filming of the Original Trilogy they used blue screens, so these are definitely not old photos. Still I was told that some of the 4 photos are old and some are indeed from Pinewood. Help us figure out which are the old ones in the comments.

Well, there is lens flare on the first and fourth pics. Those two have to be new.

No they are not old because they used Blue Screens on the old films. There noticeable green screens 2 may be old though

3 and 4 were took at the same set. Look at the seat belt on the right rear seat. In the same waded position.

What’s up with the green screen outside the cockpit? I thought they were going to film more on location.

That’s just a screen covering up the real background! They have a painted space background and the planets are models on wires, cause CGI is like totally evil!

You do realize that “on location” means that they only shoot things that could be reasonably filmed in a real world location… even the prequels used actual location shooting from Tunisia and Italy. But space is, ya know, kinda hard to get to even with NASA technology, so be prepared to see (gasp!) some green screen in a film released in 2015.

Which OT fans complain about greenscreen? None. Stop implying fake facts. It’s a tool to composite shots. Bluescreen was used in the OT to composite shots together. People liked this, not disliked this. The problem is when people depend on it to create shots rather than simply enhance and put shots together. Your mockery tone implies you find this argument valid enough to try and (fail to) counter it. Nice try. Move along.

“quit changing your tune, green screen hater.”
I literally just made an entire post saying nobody hates greenscreen. My entire point was that people complain about it’s use. You just fail to listen to the reasoning and come to the conclusion that they hate it altogether. The fact you can’t even be bothered to listen to the bigger picture, and just resorting to telling me to shut up, and yet again claim I am a ‘greenscreen hater’ is just proving my point exactly.

            August 12, 2014 at 21:02 PM

You clearly do not understand either. I have literally explained to you why you are wrong. Why do you fail to listen? People complain ABOUT the greenscreen in the prequels. People do not complain about it’s involvement. It’s the context, not the involvement. Like I say, people praised the effects of the OT because they used bluescreen to composite different shots together of practical effects. People praised this hugely. The problems with the prequels were not the fact that there WAS greenscreen, the problem was how it was USED. Instead of it being used to enhance locations, it was being used to create entire locations. Instead of it being used to put actors into different settings, it was used to create CG characters and put into created CG locations. Not all of the time of course, but a lot of times. People did not like this. When people complain about the use or the volume, they are complaining about the context of the greenscreen use, not the idea of it altogether. The fact you are trying to counter an argument when you don’t understand it in the first place is nothing short of inane, let alone the childish way in which you make your failed attempts. Now go on, I eagerly await your inane reply where you will just tell me to shut up and claim I hate greenscreen. Real logical counter arguments there..

It’s amazing to me that Disney’s budget isn’t bigger for this film. I mean – if they are actually filming everything on location – in a galaxy far, far away – it must cost a shit-ton to get out there.

And what about the money for Dr. Brown to build a much larger flux capacitor? To get a long time ago and get all that crew and equipment and everything to the Star Wars temporal universe would take a MASSIVE machine. And don’t even get me started on where the plutonium is coming from!!!

When comparing it to the ESB photo of the cockpit, there seem to be a few subtle differences. It looks like the back seats from ESB have two arm rests, where these “new” photos only have one. There also appear to be some very subtle differences on the box in the center. Although I will say, if these photos are indeed new, they went to great lengths to recreate the original. I am choosing to believe they are new, mostly based on the green screen, but who knows. That would be easy enough to fake.

No that’s not how it works. Lens flair is added in post production with CGI. That’s lighting so the film isn’t dark. Don’t get your panties in a bunch.

Lens flairs aren’t always created in post production. They can be created simply by pointing a flashlight/torch directly at the camera lens while filming.

I do hope that is not how we can expect the lighting to look finished and we go back to the natural documentary look as before instead of this artificial gelled monotone foggy look that is so prevalent now in movies and games and evident in the third picture more then the others. It’s the design fad the has been around since the 90’s and just won’t go away.

I hope they filter the water for the sake of any action scenes with Ford. They better use lots of white light to flood Carrie fishers scenes. And with Lukes scenes they better use fans so his hair has movement more like original Sw and not ROTJ. It so damn sad these film makers today can’t get it right!

  • August 12, 2014 at 6:20 pm

Guys these are clearly all real, all taken on a modern cell phone. None of these are old, if so they wouldn’t look anything like a cell phone pic. They’d be old film photos and they would look completely different. The comments about green screens are also valid. Optical compositing used the highly sensitive blue layer in the film elements to pull a matte. Digital compositing uses the green channel in a digital image because that has the most information due to how digital sensors are built to mimic the greater green response of the eye. Now we all know this film was show on real film but we also know that all film elements are scanned and processed digitally now. So back to green screen since ultimately the images are still being scanned by a digital sensor. No old photos, clearly all modern. I don’t know why this is a discussion. Sorry about the rant.

What does this type of gangway doing on the Millenium Falcon? It’s supposed to have a grungy, steady and functional look. Ver organic, almost slightly Gigerian and not some bland, hunky rectancular stuff you’d find on late (TNG) Trek.
